No fancy words or erudition this time (wait, does 'erudition' count as fancy?). This game is just cool. The booming shooting is pretty fun, the levels have a decent design, the graphics and sound track are cool, and the devs obviously know their Mythos. I especially like the sound design, the King in Yellow inspired cultists genuinely creep me out.

Digital laudanum for when you get home from a long day at work and just want to blast away at unspeakable horrors in a groovy comic book. It's a bit like Lovecraft meets Evil Dead at a Sulphur Aeon concert.

If you own a HDR monitor and have a GPU with Nvidias Auto HDR, you should give this game a try. It really enhances the the game.

At first some of the negative reviews had me kinda worried and I exprected the worst, but honestly, these "issues" don't last for more than small parts of a single level.

I never was too confused where to go next, and there were like 2 things that felt pretty cheap, other than that a really solid experience with cool locations. (Except the Big Ugly Fish, that boss really sucks)

Also, if you are an achievement hunter, this one is pretty short and there're tons of ways to make it easier if you want to.

Pretty great game, would just say that it doesn't necessarily run flawlessly on steam deck, lowered settings to medium and could maintain a solid 50 fps, but still got frequent frame drops. This didn't happen to me until i was about 60-70% into the game, the first half of the game plays very smoothly.

A great Lovecraftian boomer shooter that mostly hits the mark but fails at few points, however the overall package is definitely worth the price and the experience.
The game offers two different characters which despite of having the very same arsenal of weapons offers two different playstyle with unique skills exclusive to each character. For example, journalist can go on a rampage using a magical sword or the priest is able to withstand pain using a divine spell rooted in his faith.
The game offers few different worlds and plenty levels which can take you anywhere between 5 hours to 8 hours to beat. I spend an extra hours farming through some achievements. there is an endless mode for those who would want more but by the end of campaign, i personally had enough of the action that the game offers. FMF also focuses heavily on adding variety through the levels but the atmosphere doesn't hit the point like 'dusk' does. you pretty much visit anything from cities, to industrial towns, factories and eventually ancient temples and under water worlds. the game also has a massive variety of enemies but it also fails to capture uniqness amongst all of them which means sadly, sometimes continues shooting is enough to get by. Some of the levels are also a bit of drag with surprising but not fun elements such as platforming or simple problem solving, while they do add variety to break free from the arena to arena shooting, the Lovecraftian theme is the only aspect that makes most of the interesting.
Music and visuals both also do a heavy carrying and most likely both are factors that attracts many players initially! the blood and gore, combined with the heavy industrial metal music creates some beautiful moments in the game.
Weapons are simply .... amazing imo. each weapon offers two path of upgrades to change and make your playstyle varied. for example the machine gun can be patched up to become a laser canon. Semi automatic rilfe can be a full automatic rifle or be upgraded to a grenade launcher. the game manages to balance a well placed amount of Ammo and you are never forced to use a weapon, you are then forced to learn to adapt to using different weapons that suit the situation you are in and this makes the action more clever thanks to developers cleverly paced level design.
Boss designs are great too... with glitch being somewhat the worst, big ugly fish is a great change, the king is yellow was really challenging and the final boss is exactly what you want !!!
Overall, I do recommend this game if you are after a great Lovecraftian adventure combined with fantastic boomer shooter.

10/10 game. Loved every minute of it. Endless mode is wayyyyy too hard tho but that could just be a skill issue.
