In the game, you cannot start a normal game if you do not complete the tutorial. But the tutorial turned out to be very complicated. I just don't understand what the game wants from me.

I played the tutorial and understand the basics. I'm playing solo and I've lost 19 games out of 20. My gameplay loop is every turn I try to claim the squares until the game puts me in an unwinnable situation and I lose. I'm trying to figure out an overarching strategy and failing. Currently I'm flailing about. What does a winning gameplay look like. I know most people are just going to describe the things in the tutorial that I already said I understand, but I'd appreciate some actual help understanding ...

White moves: Bishop b3 to a4 Queen h6 to h7 Black moves: Queen e8 to a8 Bishop b7 to e4 then to g2. Is still considered as failed, but I can't see any move that the white king could do to escape. For 3,456 years, chess has been around as a game adored by many different civilizations. Never, in the HISTORY of the game has it been COOPERATIVE. It is competitive in nature, and making it cooperative COMPLETELY defeats the purpose.

Are you supposed to intuit your partner's moves and work in silent sync, or are you allowed to chat with each other? The tutorial implies the former.
