Very low budget. Terrible writing.

Game might get better later in, but It's not worth my time or money to find out.

Only up to about Chapter 7 or so, but here are my thoughts so far.

Good:
Nice graphics
Turn based combat is entertaining
Characters are mostly decent, more on that later.
Voice acting is pretty good.
Female characters are actually attractive, and characters in general are nicely presented.
Haven't run into any annoyances on the battlefield.
Time limits can be disabled.
Game seems stable and runs well on my PC.

Average:
Writing and dialog are just ok.
Not a lot of "woke" stuff that I've seen so far. As far as modern games go, this is pretty good. A bit more on that below.


Bad:
I'd say at least half of the female characters have horrible attitudes, and are very unlikable, seemingly just to make them "strong". You don't have to be an ass all of the time to be "strong". They routinely take a massive dump on your lead male character who is supposed to be the leader, but he just takes it like a shy high school kid.

On the opposite side, the male characters are generally friendly, and the ones who aren't as friendly are still reasonably likeable.

Back to Eden, your main character... He's too soft and awkward to be believable as someone who is supposed to be leading this band of warriors. Who would actually follow him when there are other, stronger men with a lot more confidence and bearing in the camp? It gets cringey sometimes during his interactions with other characters.

Some of the writing is anime or network tv bad, and falls into the same lame tropes other games, anime or TV/movies do. For example one mission plays up how hard it would be to get past the gates of a town full of bad guys, so you bust down the gates, fight through all of the baddies etc, only at the end of the mission to discover that a female character had somehow snuck in by herself and captured the boss. WTF? I have a camp full of characters who could have done the same thing, and had just recruited someone who would have probably been a perfect person to do exactly what this other character did. Why couldn't they have just sent one of them?

I think my last complaint is that the ranged weapons and spells don't have enough range, and can only hit in a certain pattern of squares. The bows and spells only reach out maybe 2-3 squares. And then it's like you can only target squares directly north, south, east or west of you. No diagonals on a lot of them.

Out of place diversity. Nearly everyone in the game so far is white, which makes sense for the medieval European style setting. A lot of names sound Italian or Spanish. But every once in awhile, this random African person shows up, with no explanation for why they might be there, and no character ever seems to notice. I haven't heard any mention of other nations with different Afro-centric cultures etc, that these people could be from. At least give a reason for why your DEI characters are there, even if they're just traveling adventurers, merchants, nobles etc.

Overall I like the game, and I do recommend it if you like turn based strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem, XCOM etc. I would likely buy a true sequel to the game. Not at all convinced yet by the Veil of the Witch game coming out later though.

I would not recommend getting this full price but on special, it would be worth it.
Despite the negative review, I do not think this game is too bad, I just found many of the animations annoying. It goes for a cinematic style with each attack but they are all... exactly... the same. No variety whatsoever. When a character is killed, regardless of the attack used, they always just take a knee, look up at you and then flop on the ground. Some finishers or at least a bit of variety to attack animations would already have made it much better in my opinion.
Another aspect that annoyed me was how a character's appearance is determined by their class and not the actual equipped items.
There are more things I could pick on but you get the point.
This might just be a question of preference but I felt like all these small things lead to a bland experience.

That being said, the game play itself it pretty decent. Maybe it gets more interesting further down the road but, frankly. I don't have the patience.
