I do not agree with this game being Rougelike, it would have felt way better as a normal tactics game.

To begin you form a party out of 3 people and 1 pet. You can upgrade abilities (which every human char has 2, and the pet has 1) with a currency you obtain mostly by getting stars (you obtain stars by fulfilling goals during missions), a system which already reminds me of mobile games.

Being rougelike, and this is the fact I hated the most, is that it locks those 4 characters! So yeah, you gotta complete an adventure (aka a run) with a set party of 4, the only way you can change members is when a dialogue pops up telling you a character is tired to sit on the side and wants to join, and I have no idea what triggers those dialogues. Anyway, as you play an adventure, you get achievement points, which can be used to unlock different characters. The members do not die forever, for an adventure to fail all members must die, so if you think you can just let the unwanted members die during a mission so you can replace them, nah, they revive at the end. Because of this lack of mixing and matching members and trying out to see what works, I could not take any more and quit it after 2 hours. Heck the game is barely a tactics one, the gameplay is more towards puzzle rather that tactics.

Also, that shade system, that thing is so annoying to play around with especially when you got a member surrounded so at that point you might as well abandon the run, because even if you manage to retreat that member, its shade will remain behind and thus you will receive dmg!

Ohh and if you get into a new adventure, you will see the same missions!!! They are not even procedural generated to at least keep them fresh… Story is mediocre too…
On the bright side, the game has few gameplay systems, and very basic RPG elements, so it is easy to pick up and play without even a tutorial. And it does look good.

Oh well, to close up, if you are looking for an alternative to proper tactic games, look at something else. The combat can be fun if you enjoy puzzles, so if you are looking for that, then go ahead pick it up, but even so, no way it is worth the full price.
