IT IS A GREAT GAME BUT THE GAME SHOULD GET A NEW UPDATE AND THE GAME SHOULD BE MORE POPULAR BECAUSE IT TAKES SO LONG TO GO INTO A GAME BUT OVERALL IT IS A GOOD GAME.

This game's a weird case. I bought it back in 2021 because of the Silent Hill DLC, and I'm wondering how they ever got Konami to agree to that. The game is a fine idea, you have monsters... and mortals... and you put them in a maze. The monster wants to kill them. Grand.
But even ignoring the fact this game feels janky enough to be a Garry's Mod community server, the biggest problem with this game front and center is that there is one fun game mode with a good concept— the aforementioned one where you have a Monster working kill the Mortals, who all work together to escape— and two UNFUN game modes, one atrocious experience where everyone is a Mortal competing against each other (meaning most support abilities are actively to your detriment because they still affect other mortals), and the other slightly more tolerable experience having everyone be Monsters.

The game's notoriously imbalanced with both massively overpowered and absolutely crap characters coexisting, the crossover DLCs (with the exception of Monstrum it seems, who have stuck it out with them) get sunsetted quickly, and besides the strong contenders of Silent Hill and Monstrum, a lot of the crossovers are with slop like Yandere Simulator and Poppy's Playtime. This is basically a mascot horror cash grab. At this point, even though there is still DLC upcoming and they squeak out a few dollars from time-to-time, this seems to be mostly a dead game, maybe a passion project the devs just don't have the money to keep alive and give as much love as it needs. The game skirts a weird line between high quality in certain places and tragically low quality in others.

It's just a shame because the Silent Hill content was cool, the map was well-made. The characters had voice-acting, and multiple skins! There is a world where they possibly could've built momentum off the Silent Hill crossover and had something kinda big. It just needed more love and polish. More active balance changing, more communication from the devs, more clear objectives and UI, and more of a hook to care if you're not an 8-year old or someone who makes video content for 8-year olds, I guess. I remember feeling kind of patronized by everything outside of the Silent Hill and Monstrum content.

Ultimately, even though I do remember having some comical experiences with it just trying to wrap my head around what the hell was going on— again very reminiscent of joining a weird Garry's Mod community server or some other bizarre janky gamemode in a highly moddable game— I have to give it the negative review because there's just no one to play it with, and even if you somehow convinced all your friends to buy it and play it with you, it's a lukewarm experience that would not last longer than a half-hour at best. Just a novelty.

EDIT: I do want to apologize to the devs in case they ever see this, I was kind of needlessly rude in some places. I wrote this review in a past-tense because in my mind the game is kind of already over, but the fact that there are still upcoming DLCs and that they've had to cut promises to release them tells me that there is a desire from the devs to make cool stuff for the game, and some extraneous circumstances (likely the all-powerful money) preventing them from doing so. I feel bad ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on indie games, there definitely are people who put work and time into this and wanted to see it happen. And this is definitely not the most horrendous stinker I've ever seen dropped on the Steam Store. But unfortunately it is also true that if you buy it, you probably will not spend a lot of time enjoying it.
