An indie project that puts principles over fun

Pros:
* Unique setting and an interesting way of looking at things.
* Good music.
* Sailing is fun.
* Kitty/doggo petting! (careful to use the correct button tho, or you instead grab and huck 'em)
* Treasure maps are fun.

Cons:
* Mini-map doesn't follow you, so you have to manually refresh it as you travel.
* Game can't decide if it wants to fish or cut bait - it tries too hard to be & do everything. See below section.
* Freaking tons of collectibles.

Meh:
* Gear has stat bonuses.
* Ubisoft-style "climb tall things to fill your map with stuff that's around you" mechanic.

Fish or cut bait:
* It doesn't give you a GPS dot on the map - unless you're on a boat. It makes it tough to locate things on the map - unless you drop a pin on the map, then you can zero in on it with ease.
* Combat is a rare, but when it happens it's a joke - enemies typically kill themselves by walking over fire, before they get to me.
* Collectibles aren't required - except when they are. Mostly they're for cosmetics, but some quests require them.
* Mana is limited, and you have to eat to regain it - but early on you can unlock an ability to spawn food from thin air.
* The graphics are simple - but it frequently made my (albeit ancient) GPU chug hard.
* On the "guitar hero" minigames, you can either play the song, or turn on auto-play and then you can read the (amusing) lyrics. You can't go back and play the song again, though, as far as I can tell.
* You can't fast travel - except when you're at a dock. Which are liberally scattered around the islands.

TL;DR: Game may be fun, but after ~8 hrs I found myself dreading playing it more - so I'm out.
