Black screen upon start

Fails to start from Steam, works when run manually

When I try to start the game from Steam, using the Start button, nothing happens. However if I run tombrumble.sh from the command line it does launch, though I do see this message: $ ./tombrumble.sh [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; no appID found. Either launch the game from Steam, or put the file steam_appid.txt containing the correct appID in your game folder. Debian GNU/Linux...
