A very good dinosaur hunting game. I played the original growing up.

Despite the notable flaws I will list in the review, I still recommend this game. But only because dinosaurs + shooting + nostalgia.

I will preface my review by saying I was a 90s baby who played the 1st Carnivores in 1998. I was 4 years old and installed Carnivores all by myself! It was my first ever PC game. So the nostalgia is high here.

I still love the old games, but of course, they're showing their age. I always dreamed of a modern Carnivores game. I was excited when the previous company made the 1st remake. As soon as it was available for purchase, I purchased the previous remake, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn for PC.

While this game and the former reiteration have the same flaws, I do enjoy both.

Cons for this game:
- Limited amount of dinosaurs to hunt. I'm still anticipating Allosaurus, Velociraptors, and Spinos to be introduced. I felt like they should have been the first DLCs if they couldn't be in the base game. Or free updates.
- The failed promise of DLCs and fresh content consistently. I fully understand that the war in Ukraine has impacted the developer team greatly, but the failed promise of this game having QoL Improvements is saddening. I fully thought this Carnivores game was going to actually be cared for and loved.
- Taking things out from the previous generation. The mutant dinosaurs and skins should have been kept in the base game; the modding community shouldn't have had to re-add them.
- Why is the first DLC a public Unity Asset that you can purchase ONCE for your game for $20? And they had the audacity to charge $13 FOR EACH PLAYER when it first came out?
- No official mod support for 3rd party modders. If you're gonna hype up a game regarding content, and don't deliver, you might as well open up the modding support so the community can keep YOUR game alive.

Either this game needs to get the developer team back on track or yet another reiteration needs to be created by an actual competent team that doesn't fail its users or fans or players. A re-re-reiteration at this point.

I still recommend it because it's a simple single-player with dinosaurs and shooting them. It's relaxing and I have many hours into it despite the flaws. The basic premise is delivered.
