As Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief, or Pontius the Knight, each player can leverage their unique skills and abilities to conquer the myriad platform challenges that Trine 5 throws their way. Together, they'll navigate intricate puzzles, tackle formidable foes, and confront menacing bosses—all in the name of thwarting a clockwork conspiracy. Major Fixes / Additions:

Crossplay added between all of the following platforms in public and private games: All different PC storefronts, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series.
Virtual keyboard enabled for consoles for password input, allowing private games to support Crossplay.
Invite feature added (does not support Crossplay!).
Invites enabled for all consoles, within their own console families.
[PC only] In Friend Only games, Steam and Epic overlay supports inviting and joining into ongoing games, as well as inviting into lobby.
[PC only] Gog can invite friends into Friend Only lobbies through the invite button only.
[PC only] AMD: Fixed flickering shadows for older than RDNA2 cards

General fixes:

Fixed hosted lobbies sometimes not appearing in the "Browse Games" -list when there were many ongoing games.
Plugged a memory leak.
Fixed a rare case where a joining player brought in an extra local player with them.
Fixed local players spawning off screen in some cases.
[Xbox only] Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause joining to fail on Xbox.
[PS5 only] Fixed vibration not working on DualSense controller(s).
[PS5 only] Fixed Experienced Heroes Achievement not triggering correctly.
[PC only] FPS limiter is now a slider instead of a text field in Steam Big Picture mode and Steam Deck.
[PC only] Steamdeck: Fixed and updated on-battery frame rate limit from 30 -> 60 fps.

Save system:

Fixed a case of getting stuck joining a game when player's save slots were full.
Fixed Quick Join creating new saves, if player already had a save of that game.

General Gameplay:

Last used character is now remembered in Classic games if players use a character not default for their player number.
Fixed being unable to descend a ledge into ledgegrab if standing slightly over the edge.
Improved ledgegrabbing on sloped terrain.
Disallowed client having story progress locked skills unlocked, that the host doesn't yet have, if they played the same save further on their own and then join back.
Fixed "Last player remaining" -effect persisting after disconnecting.

Skills:

Fixed a rare crash when controlling another Pontius' Prismatic Talisman.
Fixed object lock effect persisting on Pontius' thrown sword.
Fixed some upgrades being able to use incorrect player number for their function.
Exploding clone no longer deals damage to the final boss through its invulnerability.

Level 4:

Fixed a sharp camera re-focus after breaking out of the Garden Party Gazebo.

Level 7:

Pontius breaks laws of physics less and no longer can get out of bounds in the level.
Prevented starting a fight too early by throwing boxes ahead.

Level 8:

Gate Guardian nor Tower Guardian can get stuck anymore to their flamethrower attack if Amadeus shoves a box to their face.

Level 9:

One less puzzle that can be broken with Wind Burst and cause player to get stuck.
Fixed broken French localizations for opening cutscene.

Level 12:

Added a rope target to the bottom of the elevator near the end of level, in case player falls off.

Level 15:

Fixes and improvements to the Sauna secret.

Level 18 and 19:

Fixed Clockwork Mages causing softlocks by falling off or spawning so that they never teleported back up.

Localizations:

Fixed overlapping texts in Nintendo Switch's localizations of Czech, German and Japanese.

Major Fixes:

- Added Friends-Only games on all platforms
- Fixed Final Boss achievements and popups
- Fixed an issue where proper audio failed to load
- AMD: Fixed flickering issues

Online / Multiplayer fixes:

- Browse game & Online multiplayer: Support for friends only games
- You can now host an online multiplayer lobby for friends only using the "Host Friends" button
- Lobbies: Fixed the max lobby search result(s)

Gameplay Fixes:

- Added a failsafe to prevent issues with low fps configurations (Level 4 water puzzle fix)
- Limited the amount of jumps player can do with Wind Burst Leap
- Fused objects are now always kept active
- Fixed levitation stagger getting canceled early if levitating a staggered enemy
- Levitation: Properly synced switching from over-the-head levitation to accurate levitation when playing on gamepad
- Various physics optimizations
- Fixed an issue with invisible players

Which platforms is Trine 5 releasing on?
PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Store), PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, GeForce NOW (through Steam)
Is the game Steam Deck compatible?
Everything should be playable.
How many people worked on Trine 5?
It had a similar team size as Trine 4 which was around 50 people.
How long was the game in development?
Around 3 years.
Will the game have achievements on all platforms?
Steam, GOG, Epic, Xbox, PS have achievements/trophies. Switch does not.
Will the game have Steam trading cards?
Yes.
Will more languages be added to the localizations for text/audio currently listed on Steam?
Additional languages are not planned at the moment.
Will it be possible for players to add fan-created localizations for unsupported languages?
If there are fan translations we are happy to support them.
Will we get a game map poster like in the Trine 4 Nintendo physical version?
No, nothing planned here.
Is Ari Pulkkinen providing the music?
Yes, Trine 5 features a mix of brand-new tracks and some remixes from previous Trine games (the adventure takes our heroes to multiple familiar locations!).
Will we be able to purchase the soundtrack separately?
Yes, it will be purchaseable on Steam.
Will there be another Trine collection series when 5 comes out? If so, will it fix the achievements that don't work?
No plans at the moment.
Does the PC version include a Steam code to activate or is it purely physical?
The retail PC version comes with a Steam code for activation.
Will there be patches, free updates or paid DLC?
None that we can announce at this time, however we are of course committed to fixing any bugs or issues with the game with patches post-launch.

Technical questions:

What will be the download/install size for the game?
Roughly 17 GB.
Will the game feature cross play between PC/consoles and between Steam/Epic/GOG?
Yes, but with certain limitations. PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch can all play together if they are using the same build version/number. This WILL NOT be the case at launch, but we are aiming to make it possible WITHIN A MONTH after launch. PlayStation users are left out of cross-play at this point.
Will the game feature cross-generation co-op play?
Yes, this will work on all platforms at release, so for example PlayStation 4 users can play with PlayStation 5 users, and Xbox One users can play with Xbox Series S|X users.
Will the game feature cross saves between PC/consoles and between Steam/Epic/GOG?
Saves are shared in online multiplayer, but cannot be directly transferred between 2 devices.
Is the multiplayer server-based or Peer-to-Peer? How does it work on a technical level?
Connections are routed via Epic Online Services .
What is the maximum number of players in multiplayer?
4 in Unlimited multiplayer mode (each player can be any hero), 3 in Classic multiplayer (only one of each hero can exist at any given time).
Can you play local multiplayer with two keyboards or 1 keyboard + 1 controller, or only with controllers?
Multiple keyboards: The game has no special features for multiple keyboards, so they are unlikely to work due to how modern operating systems and USB drivers work.
Keyboard and controllers: yes, this works with up to the maximum of 4 players on one PC (1 keyboard and 3* controllers, or 4* controllers)
* subject to enough free USB slots
Will Trine 5 have any modern GPU features, such as ray tracing, DLSS, DLAA, frame generation?
No plans on that side. Our game is very optimized.

Content questions:

Will there be a hardcore mode on the release, i.e. no deaths allowed?
Not full hardcore mode, but within the “Custom” difficulty, you can select a “Master” level difficulty for resurrection, which means you have 0 Soul Points and you’ll get a Game Over if any of your heroes dies. You’ll then be able to resume the game from the latest Grand Checkpoint.
Are there spawn points again?
There are checkpoints scattered throughout the levels. You can continue the game from any checkpoint.
Are there any escape sequences?
No, unless you count running away from certain fights.
Will there be retcons in this part?
We do not want to spoil the story here.
Will goblins appear in this part?
No goblins. The main enemies / villains will consist of Clockwork Knights and members of the Rat Gang.
Will there be free battles in the game or will there be closed arenas?
Mostly free battles, but in some areas you’ll have to fight your way through to advance.
How will Amadeus create his cubes and balls? Above his head or where you draw and appear there?
Above his head. For extra special wizard-y feeling, you can enable “Draw shapes to conjure objects” in the Options (-> Control Options). The objects will still appear above Amadeus’ head for gameplay reasons, however.
