Looks fantastic on desktop but won't start in VR mode. I tried starting up from Steam VR and Oculus application. What am I doing wrong?

Planning on using this thread to keep track of issues that come up and hopefully provide answers/workarounds for things that can't be fixed yet. Also as usual, I always have trouble with compatibility testing on headsets that aren't an oculus rift CV1 (because it's the only headset I own). Sorry about this weird store page format, I was looking into having the DLC and base game as seperate titles, but after contacting valve they reccomended that I keep both versions under the same app ID in order for the game to appear in their respective genre sections, I also think it's the better option considering it's the same game and it avoids having two seperate entries in everyone's steam library. This looks lovely and I would like to give it a proper try, but the extreme depth of field blur is enough to make me put it down. Is there an option or a config setting to disable this? I understand you want DoF for the photo modeling, but eyeballs don't work this way....
