Some would call this tedious, but it's honest work. I rice I ruin!

Welcome to the rice fields ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a game where you play as a goddess of both war and harvest. It is also a game where you both fight monsters and farm rice. And they knocked it out of the park!

I don't really know how to say this but, the way you level up in this game is the most unique and by extension interesting take I've ever seen on gathering EXP. It's just a delight really for your level and your stats to be directly tied to how good of a rice crop you can make. I genuinely cannot praise the rice farming mechanics this game throws at you. If the game was this alone, it would be one of the best farming games around.

But it's not just farming it's fighting as well, and honestly it's a lot of fun, with the raiment you're given a really cool way to move quick and always get in the monsters business and your combat skills add onto that in various ways. If the game was just the combat, then... well it'd be alright haha. It wouldn't be for me necessarily but I did have a lot of fun with it in combination with the farming, which I won't lie is the mainstay of the game.

Storywise, very charming I liked all the characters quite a bit and Kokorowa is just the best especially considering how somehow the lighting in this game kept shadowing her face like you do to characters who are secretly evil and to be honest that really added a lot for me lmao.

All in all the game is great, the only reason I've 95% percent of achievements is because while all of them are very manageable to get there is exactly one achievement that asks for RNG which I just haven't had any luck with and the last one being a clear 100 rounds of this mini-game type that I might get, just not by more than 5 rounds at a time. So it'll be a while.

The only complaint I have is that it looks like you can get the artbook separately so given I just bought the normal version means that I'm ♥♥♥♥ out of luck unless I buy the entire deluxe version which despite me liking the game enough to want the artbook. I don't quite like the game so much to pay 40 dollars for it instead of the 10 that the increase in price would suggest it is worth.
