Thanks punkbuster and EA, now utterly unplayable on my machine and none of the fixes work - I get kicked from servers constantly even with both the punkbuster services running and updated.

Best Battlefield game currently in my opinion. Gunplay is great, movement and everything else is just right. Weapon balancing mostly good - while there are some OP weapons, almost every gun can perform well. Most maps play fine as well, ups and downs. Servers on PC are still well populated.
Runs on Linux quite well, 5700XT on 24.0.5 drivers + Proton Exp. Only tweak I used was adjusting the GIDs allowed to send ICMP requests so the ping shows up in game properly. Besides that, only issue are very rare FPS drops.
NOTE: if you keep getting kicked from servers, update punkbuster from evenbalance.com. You can do this even on Linux through Wine.

Game is unplayable on modern operating systems due to "PunkBuster", which will kick you after a few minutes in a match. As for all games being sold on a modern store; if it doesn't work upon purchase and requires manual fixing (that ive yet to find a solution that actually works), then it shouldn't be sold. I'm not saying not to play BF4, but I am saying not to pay for it when it doesn't work as intended.

Edit: Oh yeah, also have fun trying to find an actual populated server on this game. The server admins are scumbags and fake the player count. You'll see a ton of 62/64 player lobbies, but once you join and check the scoreboard; youll see its actually more like 10 players in the entire match.

If you wanna get investigated on bf4db if you're good, yeah get this game! Honestly man, I have a 0.3K/D and one single dude who's an admin on bf4db launched a "Exploit/Multihack" investigation on my account and it's been going for multiple months with no progression XD

punkbuster is a nightmare

Has the exact same issues like Battlefield 3 almost.

Game itself is very good for its age and its fun to play MP but out of the box it is unplayable
Main reason for its unplayability is Punkbuster permanently kicking if you do not customise your pc or start doing weird stuff with FW or game updates and moving PB around between folders.

There are ofcourse guides on how to fix it , but my review is based on "out of the box experience"
