Hi all,

A new update is now live, focusing on offering more performance scaling options as well as ways to make the game more enjoyable on smaller screens such as the Steam Deck and other portable devices.

We made these improvements and additions to the game settings:

• Made automatic settings for new players based on hardware infos
  
• Separated Display and Graphics settings
  
• Added DLSS setting for Nvidia cards*
  
• Added render scale setting to customize FidelityFX scaling
  
• Added anti-aliasing quality setting
  
• Added ui + text scale settings
  
• Added texture quality setting

*Please note that there is no way at the moment to specify a DLSS mode (Quality vs Performant). It will appear in the next update scheduled in early December. Note that when DLSS is active, antialiasing and render scales have no effect. We also had to remove some post processing effects such as radial blur and warp and ghost when DLSS is active, because they do not scale well.
In response to some of the suggestions we found in the forum, we implemented the following quality of life improvements:

• Added health kit and herbs count in the inventory
  
• Added item counts in the quick inventory
  
• Allowed exiting Map and Inventory using their opening shortcuts
  
• Changed the pause sfx to make it less annoying for repeated usage

• Light and water quality optimizations
  
• Teleport if you fall trough the map during boss fight
  
• Fixed Floating Debris and Crossword narrations not playing in narration-less mode
  
• Fixed various minor textures and visual bugs

A hotfix patch is now live and here are the release notes:

• Fixed bloody hand photo target on the Mansion's saloon door not working after waking up in the basement
  
• Fixed the True Detective achievement not unlocking after completing the journal
  
• Fixed music not playing in some areas of the mansion
  
• Fixed the general store climbing wall that wouldn't work after reload
  
• Added map marker for the statue to be thrown in the service lift in the mansion
  
• Fixed a corner case where objects would disappear forever if the player opened a journal notification with an object in hands (logs, battery, jacklift, etc), consequently breaking his save

Hi all,

So we received our Steam Deck this week, and dediced to try it out by porting our Kona II: Brume demo to it. The process went really well, and the resulting build runs faster and better than the emulated Windows build.

When plugged in, the demo runs at a steady 60 FPS indoor around 40 FPS indoor (edit: further tests produced more variant results, and reality is more around 40 than 60, especially when unplugged), while there is room for optimization for the exterior part, when there is a lot of trees, where it can fall to around 25 FPS. Among known issues are the same hiccups we can find in the Windows version, which are caused by shader initialization. We have something in the pipeline to fix this for release.

It also means the demo should now be available to Linux users as well, but we couldn't test it as we have no Linux distruction installed on any decent computer at the studio.

You can then expect the final game to run natively on the Steam Deck, and Linux :)

Hi everyone,

As a follow-up to our presence at Gamescom 2022, we have decided to release the Kona II: Brume demo here on Steam for the Next Fest, a multi-day celebration of upcoming games!

The demo starts at the very beginning of the game. The player steps into the shoes of detective Carl Faubert, and must explore his surroundings in order to find out more about a strange phenomenon called the Brume. It presents the first thirty minutes of the experience, and showcases several items useful to Carl's investigation —and survival.

The demo is for Windows only, and requires a fairly decent GPU, such as Nvidia RTX 2060 or higher. The game is still in development, so you may expect a lot of improvements and optimisations in the final game.

It’s been a while—four challenging years—since we last shared anything substantial with the world. There will be a time to discuss these extraordinary years, as well as to discuss an update to Kona, but today we're here with some other news.

We are pleased to reveal the existence of Kona's sequel: Kona II: Brume.
Kona II's mysteries revolve around the Brume, a bizarre, mind-bending mist engulfing the fictive region of Manastan, in Northern Québec, Canada. The game starts where its predecessor left off, in October of the year 1970, but explores new grounds, and a storyline that lives on its own. Kona II: Brume is carefully made to please fans of Kona as well as newcomers.

Developed by Parabole and published by Ravenscourt on PC and consoles, the new adventure will be playable during Gamescom in Cologne (August 24th–29th) at the Indie Arena Booth. For those not attending, there will be plenty of footage and new details uncovered at the same time. In the meantime, you can take a look at Kona II: Brume on Steam for additional details and screenshots of the game.

We hope you all enjoyed hearing back from us and Kona II's teaser, and we are looking forward to revealing more next month!
