Is there too much micromanagement? Are there random events to challenge you?

I want to get this game but these are my two concerns. I really hate excessive micromanagement, it gets tedious af, I prefer more a focus on actual decision making and MACROmanagement. And then in say, survival mode, is there random events to stir ♥♥♥♥ up and challenge you? Cuz if not these games tend to be easily solvable and boring. I'm hoping for more of a dwarf fortress style "losing is fun" mentality, where ♥♥♥♥ keeps going wrong and you have to adjust your strategy to compensate until your eventual d...

Help me understand the crazy upkeep on launder buildings

For example: The Casino Launder mode 1: Upkeep 9800 : Laundered money 9800 Launder mode 2:Upkeep 15400: Laundered money 15400 Launder mode 3:Upkeep 26600: Laundered money 22600 Why am I paying just as much upkeep as I am laundering money? Is this not actual upkeep, but just the money that is being laundered? The wording is so confusing... If that is the case, then I also do not understand the difference between mode 1 & 2. Don't buy this game at full price. It is not worth the $44AUD they are asking for it. The gameplay has you constantly micromanaging your production to ensure buildings don't have full storage, micro managing your lieutenants, micromanaging your loyalty and terror values. This game is not fun.

There are only 5 story missions however they are quite long. The story missions are designed really poorly and I found myself often needing to build things because the story wanted it, but then demolishing them because I already had them setup beforehand and didn't need the extra production.
