Why does the Frog Detective series have a more touching and satisfying conclusion than most games with multiple entries? Sort of said to be funny, but also said seriously, and I was thinking about it while finishing up this third game in the trilogy--Frog Detective's entire thing is taking the fun and rewarding parts of adventure/mystery games and making them the entire game. The closest you come to the uninteresting downtime between high points in these games is walking between characters or items to interact with, and yeah that takes a matter of a few seconds in all but the most extreme examples where it might take, like, 20 seconds. No 5 minutes of backtracking through a dozen screens and forgetting where you are going halfway through, no being completely baffled about what to do to progress, just extremely light puzzle-solving and enjoyable dialogue the entire time. And I love every character and want to give them hugs and spend more time with them.

It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny. I love frog.

Over the last few years it feels to me that everyone is telling stories even if they have nothing to say. The world is full of content to just take up my time and sell ads to me. But this game, this trilogy, is clearly made by people who had a story. Not necessarily one of grand nor epic length, there is no message that leaves me changed, but there is an experience for which my life is richer in some small part for having played.

When we ask where are the passionate game developers, where are the storytellers, where are the artists this is where they are. Hidden away in their corner making their unique, simple, elegant experience that with no bells or whistles sings for those that listen. You will not regret your money spent or your time devoteed to Frog Detective.
