When I opened this game, I wasn't expecting to feel that emotional. So here's my honest review of the game :

The game mechanism itself is pretty simple, RPG with dungeons and fights against creatures, you can attack/reap, use special abilities or objects and you can escape. There's a manual available in the game that explains everything you're supposed to know + characters who also explain things to you if you interact with them. I'm still a bit confused about how the fights go, not sure if I was really slow compared to the opponents or if there were some bugs but there has been some times when I took damages while I was searching for a specific ability (It happened maybe 3 times, after that I reacted faster). I thought it was turn-based at first but there's also a kind of countdown before you can attack so I guess it's the case for the enemies too. It doesn't change anything for most attacks but some require to push a button to dodge them, it's less convenient in those cases.
I took the easiest option by the way, you get to chose between two difficulties and I think it's great.
You can also upgrade your stats and unlock new abilities (pretty easily).

About the visual aspect, I really like pixel art and the character designs are pretty cute (even Grimm in my opinion, he's knitting and likes tea parties, he cares about people, he's my spirit character (no pun intended); and our little brother is adorable). There's a lot of ghosts with different kinds of attack (I think they all have their own abilities now that I think of it), some look cute and some are... disturbing. I liked the different cave maps and appearance, especially in the 3rd cave, I think they tried to convey particular feelings and it was a success on me.

Now for the story, I found it kinda touching. Won't say much to avoid spoilers. You could easily miss some details of the story if you're not the type of person to interact with everything though. Because it's a short game it's mainly focused on Lavender and her brother but we've got some details on the other reapers (specific ones like Grim or the Baker, or general ones), it was entertaining to interact with them (especially the reaper duos).
I think I had the best ending I could ? I'm not sure how many of them there are but I guess maybe 3 ? Unsure. This ending answered some of my questions and made me a bit sad because it had some relatable points, but it was a very sweet way to explore grief and acceptance.
To me, this game is about grief, family and mental health.

I fully recommend playing or at least trying this game, it took me around 2 and a half hour to finish it a first time (maybe i'll play it again to find the other endings).

Short and sweet (ok, maybe a bit bitter too), just like the pastries you can buy in it.

such a cute and poignant game on sensitive topics such as death, grief and guilt. i wasnt expecting these tense but necessary themes under these mesmerizing pixel graphics. i dont even know how this game is free, but thank you dear developer *ghosthunter* for making it easily accessible to everyone :)
