Hi! Can anyone explain to me the remote control puzzle? I read the solution on a guide but I have no idea of the logic behind it. If you use the remote on the tv absolutely nothing happens, so what?

I'm so awful at puzzle games. :"( How do I get the key? I created the heart with the three wooden pieces and shined my flashlight through it and even used the camera, but I didn't see any change.
