to find ppl to play with cuz my friends have free will and sometimes refuse to play with me

Just picked this up on gog while it's on sale There's no option for vsync, I've capped the framerate but not a fan of the screentearing Is the steam version any different? Gog version is V2.1.2

I’ve been playing for a few hours now, and one of the variants hasn’t shown up. Looking at the custom setup, it’s the second square in the second row. Based on achievements, I think it’s Explosive Ball. I’m guessing the name here. Are there certain conditions that have to be met before it appears? Do I just keep playing until it shows up? Is this a bug? Any help is appreciated....
