Prison Simulator VR - Playtest Sign-Up / New Gameplay Video

Hey guys!

Prison Simulator VR has reached a stage of development where we feel it's time for us to collect feedback from the community. That’s why today we are opening registration for Prison Simulator VR playtests. Can’t wait for your ideas! We know that player support is what truly shapes a game.

The new gameplay video that we have prepared for you shows just a small fragment of the mechanics that await you in the game. Prison Simulator VR features an entire prison simulation system with separate relationships with each prisoner and guard. Your decisions made during various routines will affect your reputation, and the freedom of action will allow you to solve individual tasks in a variety of ways.

During Playtests, you will be able to play Prison Simulator VR Freeplay mode. You will decide what you want to do and what routines to finish. In the full version, there will be a story campaign waiting for you, in which you will start as an inexperienced guard who is just making a name for himself among guards and prisoners. Whose side will you take?

We are now mostly focused on polishing and bug fixing, but hey, we're all ears for your thoughts! Any ideas for what should be added before we launch? It might take us a bit to gather and roll out your suggestions, but trust us, your input will make this game even better. We're all about involving players and making sure this game hits the mark.

If you are as excited as we are about the game and want to try Prison Simulator VR and help us, we have just opened registration for playtests. Registration will close on May 19.

Playtests will last until further notice. The game will be updated over time. Playtesters who provide the most valuable feedback will receive Prison Simulator VR for free on the day of release.

Upcoming Beta - Prison Simulator VR

Today, we're excited to introduce more game mechanics and give you a glimpse of our future plans.

In Prison Simulator VR, the facility will need regular cleaning, whether it's removing offensive graffiti, tidying up dirty floors, or dealing with unexpected spills.

As a dedicated prison guard, your hard work will grant you access to exclusive areas. Among these, you'll find fully interactive machines where you can order a snack to boost your in-game statistics.

Prison Simulator VR is rapidly approaching its beta phase, and the game is taking shape, getting closer to its official release. Just like with our previous titles, Thief Simulator VR and Cooking Simulator VR, we believe in the importance of player feedback. Therefore, we're planning to offer players the chance to test our game and share their insights before Prison Simulator VR's official launch. Stay tuned for an upcoming devlog, where we'll provide comprehensive details about the beta tests— when they'll occur, how long they'll last, and who will have access to them. Once we're fully prepared, we'll unveil the official release dates for the game on multiple platforms, including PCVR, PS VR2, Quest 2, Pico Neo 3, and Pico 4.

Welcome to the next devlog for Prison Simulator VR! Today, we're excited to share updates on the prison contraband activity.

In the immersive world of Prison Simulator VR, you will find yourself tasked with the important responsibility of package inspection. As prisoners' families and friends often send them gifts, it becomes our duty to thoroughly examine the contents of these packages.

But be warned, even during this seemingly routine activity, our unwavering vigilance must never falter. Why? Because hidden amidst the innocent items lies the potential for contraband! Imagine opening a seemingly harmless candy box, only to discover a concealed file.

However, the course of action we choose to take regarding the contents of these packages rests solely on our shoulders. Will we choose to leave the illicit items untouched, thereby building a strong reputation with the prisoners? Or perhaps we may be tempted to seize the contraband for personal gain and sell it for a profit? The choice is ours to make and it holds the power to shape our journey within the prison walls.

Workshop Madness in Prison Simulator VR

Welcome to the next devlog for Prison Simulator VR! Today, we're excited to share updates regarding the workshop. One of the key aspects of Prison Simulator VR is managing the time and activities of the prisoners, and one of the options for this is to take them to a workshop where they can learn and practice woodworking skills.

To initiate this process, you need to go to the cellblock and identify the prisoners who are willing and able to participate in the workshop. Once you have selected the volunteers, you lead them to the workshop area and start the session. But be warned, keeping order and discipline among the prisoners can be a challenge. Not every prisoner has enough patience to finish his project, and maintaining a safe and productive environment requires careful attention.

Conversations in the room can vary greatly depending on the prisoner's unique personality. Some may politely end the conversation when the time is up, while others may request more time or even become angry.

As players, our choices will impact our relationship with each character. For instance, denying a prisoner's request for extra time could negatively affect our respect, whereas a private visit in a separate room could strengthen it.

Free Time in Prison Simulator VR

Hey guys!

Welcome to the next devlog for Prison Simulator VR! Today, we'll be exploring the side activities that will help you build relationships with both the prison guards and prisoners. As we previously mentioned, the game is centered around the player's interactions and relationships with the other characters. Your actions will have a direct impact on how you are perceived.

To develop these relationships, players will have access to a variety of mini-games during their free time. These include sports such as basketball with the prisoners and darts with the guards. Additionally, players can spend their free time at the gym, working out to build muscle and gain respect from others.

Keep in mind, this is just a small sample of the many ways players can influence their cred among the prisoners and staff. Be sure to check out our previous devlogs for more information on the game's relationship system!

In 2020, our Thief Simulator VR was nominated on Steam for the GOTY VR award. In 2021, our Cooking Simulator VR won the GOTY VR award! We are currently working on Into The Darkness VR and several other projects. Now we are ready to reveal something more about one of them.

What is Prison Simulator VR?

At Gameboom VR, we do not develop simple ports, but we rework many mechanics so that you can have as much fun as possible while playing in virtual reality. What awaits you in Prison Simulator VR?

The game allows you to experience life in prison in the comfort of your own home without any real-life consequences! It is you who will decide what kind of prison guard you will become. Will you fulfill all tasks as expected, or will you strike a deal with prisoners? Will you turn a blind eye to prison brawls or will you punish the prisoner?

A living prison

As Gameboom VR, we became interested in Prison Simulator because of the artificial intelligence, which can surprise you during every playthrough. The prison simulation process will amaze you more than once with its complexity. For example, you can have different relationships with each prisoner, and on top of that, each is distinguished by a different personality type - from a peaceful guy to one who will not respect you at all.

Prison Simulator VR game modes

There will be two game modes in Prison Simulator VR:

storyline - you will experience a planned story, full of thrilling moments and twists
freeplay - in this mode, you play the part of a prison guard without any restraint

Prison Simulator VR development

Prison Simulator VR will be available on popular PCVR headsets, PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, Pico Neo 3, and Pico 4. Seated and standing gameplay will be available. The title will be translated into 10 languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Turkish, and Portuguese). There will also be support for achievements. Our new game is coming in 2023!
