The year is 2357. Humans have explored the stars and colonized many worlds under the authority of the Earth Systems Alliance (ESA), a government controlled by powerful interstellar organizations. An alliance in name only, it is in reality, a brutal empire.

The Earth Systems Alliance (ESA) is embroiled in a civil war with a faction known as the Novus Federation. They are made up of former ESA colonists, corporations and military personnel who oppose Alliance rule and actively undermine ESA activities.

Both sides have committed war crimes on civilian populations. This has destabilized the balance of power in the region, creating chaos.

Star Shift 0.64 has been released! This release has fixed multiple bugs as well as added a ton of new skills that players can learn in the game.

This video shows the basic introduction to Star Shift. The game is not currently complete, but the gameplay is pretty firm for about 30 hours. The game is meant to be much longer though.

In Star Shift, traditional "levels" don't matter very much. But with each battle, you learn "knowledge" and you can use that to learn skills. Some Skills are active such as a certain style of attack, other skills are passive skills like "ATK goes up by 5%".

This creates a situation in which levels don't matter, but depending on what equipment you have, or what skills you've learned, you can become extremely deadly, or really weak, even if your character's stats are the same as level 1.

Star Shift aims to be a mix of JRPG (Japanese RPG's), WRPG (Western RPG's), and TRPG (Tactical RPG).

Star Shift has been updated to 0.6. This is a big update that makes many changes to the core gameplay. Version 0.6 comes with a complete graphical overhaul, as well as the addition of a new skill tree system which allows the player to learn skills from various disciplines in the order they choose.

New stories have been added including the latest story which is a crossover story between Star Shift and Killer Gin (another game). Here is a sample of that crossover story, added to this latest version of the game.
