History of the cinematic side-scroller

Some would set its start with Prince of Persia in 1989. I think that one was influential for the cinematic animation of the character but still played more like a regular action platformer. So what’s the reason for this game being removed?

I know that many people called it an Inside rip-off. But it still had generally positive reviews, the devs could still sell it and make profit. I would like to buy it. Does anyone know why they decided to remove it?
