I've only deleted comments that are blatantly offensive or spammy (though it's been a long time since any of those have been a problem in these comments sections). I find it can help to leave old comments in case other people have similar issues.
- To produce a unit, you need two copies of its strategic resource.
- If you have an Encampment (for land units) or Harbour (for naval units) that goes down to one.
- Upgrading into a unit with a resource requirement (e.g. Warrior -> Swordsman) requires 1 copy of the strategic resource, regardless of where you upgrade it.
- You don't use up strategic resources when making units, unlike Civ 5. As such, two copies of a resource are enough for an unlimited number of units.
I realise the guide might have been slightly misleading, so I'll go and amend the wording slightly.
It's very strange how the UA can actually be a negative in this regard. Why would I not at least be able to build just a single horseman? I don't get it but I am very new to Civ 6.

And thank you for the work on the guides btw. I have always studies these extensively before firing up a Civ 5 game.
- Lots of religious changes, notably including the new Warrior Monk unit (which Scythia can use particularly well) and theological combat now having flanking and support bonuses
- Scythia's health on kills nerfed from 50 to 30.
- The Nubia DLC introduces a new wonder - Jebel Barkal. It's a great source of faith early in the game but can only be constructed on desert hills.
