There are five items in the game that the survivors get to choose from, the map, toolbox, flashlight, med-kit and the skeleton key. Today we will be going over the skeleton key which can help you survive in clutch situations.

You work hard every game to get the max amount of points possible and then escape at the end
so you can spend those points to get the perk/offering/item you desire and level up. The Skeleton key is an ultra rare item that will rarely pop up in your blood web compared to the rest of the items. This key can be used to open the hatch by default but you can also track where the killer and your teammates are with the help of some add-ons. A stock key lasts for 30 seconds, unlike the map, which only lasts for 20 seconds. This time includes the one second that it takes to charge the key with the Mouse 2 button by default. The key also makes a different sound compared to the map when you use it and this sound can be heard by the killer and the survivors.

There are 7 generators that are scattered across each level but the survivors only needs to fix 5 of them in order to power the exit gate.The number of generators that you need to repair for the hatch to appear

• 1 survivor alive = needs 2 generator repaired.
  
• 2 survivor left = needs 3 generator repaired.
  
• 3 survivor left = needs 4 generator repaired.
  
• 4 survivor left = needs 5 generator repaired.

You need to be the last one alive for the hatch to open ( unless you use the skeleton key which allows you to unlock it any time after it has spawned)

A very common add-on that will pop up in your blood web a lot. This add-on will allow you to use the key for 40 seconds but keep in mind that it takes one second to charge the map so that brings it down to 39 seconds. This add-on can be stacked with the Prayer beads add-on.

This add-on allows you to see other survivors when they are within a 48 meter range. With the help of this add-on you can find your teammate if you are injured so they can heal you and vice-versa. You can also get information as to what they are doing at that time so you can be more efficient and make life easier for yourself.

This add-on will allow you to use the key for 45 seconds but if you stack it with the Prayer rope add-on then you can use the key for 55 seconds. Stacking those two add-ons is pointless as you won't be able to generate an aura.

On every map the hatch spawns when the number of repaired generators is greater than the amount of alive survivors. You don't need a key to open the hatch if you're the last one alive but if all 4 survivors are alive then you can locate the hatch and use the key to escape. The skeleton key is super rare and is used to open the hatch but once you use the key or die without any protection you will lose the key. This add-on will allow you to keep the key if you escape via the hatch.

Pts for opening the hatch = 2k
Pts for escaping via the hatch = 2k
Pts for escaping = 5k

This add-on allows you to see other survivors when they are within 24 meter range. This add-on can be stacked with the Gold token add-on which will allow you to track survivors up to a range of 72m.

This add-on allow increases the aura generated by the key. This add-on can be helpful when paired with the Gold token or Blood amber add-on.

Sometimes life hits you with a brick but don't lose faith when you have this add-on protecting your precious key that you have worked so hard to get. Your teammates won't be able to retrieve the key, unlike other items that they can pick up if you have this add-on.

This add-on allows you to see the killer if he is within a 32m range when you hold the Mouse 2 button. The key can only be used for 15 seconds (including the 1 second it takes to charge) if you have this add-on equipped so keep an eye on the charge of your key or use the Prayer beads add-on so you can use it for 30 seconds.This add-on is also very useful against killers who use Insidious and camp the person on the hook as you can then plan how you are going to distract the killer and go in for the save.

This really depends on your play style and how confident you are but here's a list of add-ons that I would suggest using.

Milky Glass and Weaved Ring - These two add-ons will allow you to keep your key no matter what happens in the game, whether you open the hatch or die.

Blood Amber and Prayer Beads - These two add-ons will allow you to see where the killer is for 30 seconds which can be useful if you are playing with a friend who is new to the game and is likely to get caught by the killer.

White Ward - Every good add-on is rare and that's one of the reasons why you want to use them most of the time and before you know it you will be running low on them. This offering will allow you to save your add-ons and the item so you can enjoy them a little longer.
