inspired by the fragility of the awp player in pro games. Usually if you miss the first shot, you're dead.

I have been wanting to create a skin that makes use of the weapons substrate in a cool way for a while. so i took a old rough experimental skin from before and tried to polish it to something more finished. The substrate showing through makes a nice contrast between the matte paint of the shards and the shiny metal of the raw awp.

Another thing I have been struggling with for a while is how to make really sharp edges like this without getting a jaggedy low res feeling. The best way to work with this i find is using extremely big textures like 8k and then scaling them down to get really sharp looking edges.

The colors also have a meaning in that the yellow shards wear quicker than the orange, and therefore the most battle-scarred version leaves the rifle with only orange pieces.

The idea fromthe original skin is of course still there, to get a feeling of the pieces popping out from the background. but this time polished and free from errors.
