Roman Imperial Armor and Weapons (replacer) V1.4

Description
*15 April 2013 NOTICE: This full version of the mod can now be found here:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32988

As of version 1.6 I overceded the maximum allowable file size for Skyrim Workshop mod (100mb). Therefore there will be no more support for this mod on Skyrim workshop until they change their policy. You can still get the last small-size version of the mod here but you are advised to get the full version from Skyrim Nexus instead

*Version 1.4 released
1. added officer's armor
2. added a Roman standard - located downstairs in solitude castle behind the door with metal bars.
3. Other various fixes I have already forgotten

* Version 1.0.1. released
1. Added Lorica Hamata (light armor) for females
2. Modified mesh and texture for the heavy caligae - the heavy armor boots (mesh was modified only for males).
3. Added an extra type of heavy caligae boots with different texture to them, because I couldn't decide between the two.
4. Added 2 Spatha cavalry / late infantry swords. Again, I couldn't decide on which of the two I wanted so I made both of them :).
5. Added a version of heavy armor with pants for those cold Skyrim nights (it' in an Alpha state, just to cover your legs).
6. N/A
7. Various texture changes here and there.
8. Modified the light shield somewhat
Explanation: someone pointed out to the colorblind artist that it was purple.
9. Separated the manica hand armor from the rest of the bodyarmor. The replacer has it in the braces of imperial bracers now.
Explanation:People have asked for this so I did it, but it comes at a cost of having to redo and re-rig whole parts of the armor, which is why this small update took so long. Additionally there is now a strange bug of Manica not appearing in first person. This will take time to fix.
10. Changed textures of the heavy armor a bit
Explanation: People have since the beginning complained that it looks plasticy. As far as I know the main difference between the look of plastic and metal is in the contrast so I increased the contrast, but this is really the best I can do at the moment, guys.
11. Fixed one of the crested helmets
Explanation: I had broken it in the last update - sowwy :(
12. Fixed the blood effects on the dagger
13. Fixed replacer soldiers not wearing the dagger - one of the things I broke in the last update. Takes time to take effect.

*Update 0.9.8 released:
- Added two legionary rings to the game as reward to those players who stuck with this mod :) and to reflect the auctoritas of a Roman legionary.
- Added a light shield to complete the light armor set (still needs some work I know).
- Fixed studded armor inventory appearance
- Centurion's helmet is now the officer's helmet while the helmet with the standard legionary crest now replaces the "full face" imperial helmet.
- For most part fixed the hands and feet not connecting properly to the rest of the body (it took me 4 months to discover vertex snap option in 3dsmax! :P)
- Heavy armor soldiers wearing light armor cloaks should be fixed now. Remember this fix takes time to appear and replacer has to be lowest on your list of mods.
- Added light armor wraps
- Added light armor caligae
- Various other fixes and changes since 0.9.6

=============================
important notices!
=============================

1. To see the soldiers wear all the parts of the new armor (capes and rings etc) you may need to:
a. Wait until Skyrim resets its cells and npcs (30 in-game days? not sure) and
b. Have my mod at the bottom of your mods stack because it modifies leveled lists (I note this may in turn mess with other mods that modify leveled lists)

2. This mod is only a replacer version! For the full mod that includes the high level (strong) standalone version and extra blades and stuff go to Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10740 . I CANOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: IF SOMETHING DOESN't WORK, KINDLY TRY NEXUS INSTEAD!

3. This is very much still in a beta condition - a work in progress

4. Any mods that modify leveled lists may interfere with my mod.

5. I am trying to release updates for this mod at a rate of once every week or two. It is continuously in progress as I become more skillful with modding and texturing and try to fix all the little problems. Let's see how far I can get before I hang myself. I am not pro modder so there is not point in yelling at me that something needs changing! Do please report bugs however.

Mods installation and description
=============================

Copy the contents of the zip folder file into the data folder in your Skyrim directory. Click yes if Windows asks you whether you want to merge folders. On the game startup screen click "data files" and click the checkboxes next to the mods.

This mod replaces the vanilla imperial light and heavy armors as well as the imperial sword but should contain in total:
- 2 types of gladius or spanish sword;
- 2 types of Spatha or longsword
- a dagger (pugio)
- a deco "fake" version of the dagger to be worn on the right side.
- a scutum - large square shield;
- a cetratus - a light auxillary shield
- a heavy armor set (with lorica laminata/segmentata or the segmented body armor) including several types of helmets (galea) and two types of boots
- a light armor set (with lorica hamata or chainmail armor)
- a cape to serve as a sort of sagum for now (two types, one for light and one for heavy armor)
- a couple of legionary rings
- the javelins mod adds 3 types of javelins - they are currently quite overpowered, the way I like it.

Many parts of the armor still don't work for females.

Bugs/problems/potential issues/inaccuracies etc.: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REPORTING IN COMMENTS
=============================

i. Still some clipping issues during animations, especially on the female character - I hope not as noticable. For the record it is not the mesh itself, but the bone animation.

ii. Currently there is NO SUPPORT and no plans for adding support for weird races (no offense) like Khajits, so it may or may not look weird/broken on them - don't know as haven't tested and currently don't care.

iii. There are distortions, especially on the chainmail - it is more obvious on other NPCs. I have been trying to fix it for a while now and will continue to do so, but even vanilla armors get distorted.

iv. In terms of the shield positioning, I have been aware of the problem since I first tried the shield in ES Oblivion. This is because the Roman shields had a handle that goes across the length of the shield instead of parallel to it like medieval shields, and the vanilla shields unfortunately for me follow the medieval style. To make my shield work in all the poses I fear I would have to modify the default animations and that would screw up all the other shields. Sorry I am too noob to find a solution for this yet.

v. Currently a few of the armor pieces are only for males (this includes the capes).

vi The javelins are only in the standalone version of this mod at the moment, so you won't find them in the replacer

This mod is amazing. Years ago I got this mod and it was a complete game-changer, and made it worth replaying Skyrim just for this one mod. Outstanding, and would recommend to anyone who owns Skyrim.

Those swords and armor look great! For a roman history enthusiast such as myself that`s a tasty bit of a mod ;D
My only complaint is that Legats are not wearing their "centurion" helmets, instead going bareheaded
