Amazing Race Tweaks! Argonian (2016 Edition)

This mod makes Argonians absolutely amazing, with eight new abilities and three powers. The mod works with the Player character, and NPCs. Argonian followers and foes automatically use all the same powers and abilities--including followers added by other mods! The mod is completely safe. If you unsubscribe, abilities and powers of the return to what they were.

Restoration skills are learned 20% faster, and restoration spells cost 20% less to cast and heal 20% more. Health +50. In addition to breathing underwater, the Argonian tail more than doubles swimming speed. Argonian claws do 5x more unarmed damage than fists. Argonian scales resist 10% of melee weapon damage. Resistant to poisons as well as disease.

New Shadowscale power lets you move silently and blend into the shadows, making you 30% harder to detect. When not sneaking, Shadowscale gives you a potent poison cloak, which poisons all enemy combatants who get too close. Enhanced Histskin heals twice as fast and may be used every 10 minutes, or every 60 seconds while swimming. New Histsight power lets you see in the dark anytime you're under water.


The goal of this series of mods is to make each race amazing. If a mod doesn't give a race powers and abilities you can't get from any other race, then it shouldn't be called Amazing Race Tweaks! Right? This is the first ART! 2016 Edition mod released. Earlier editions of the mods for other races are on the ART! Collection page. Since the original edition of this mod was released in 2014, I've learned a lot and received lots of great recommendations for improvements. Argonians are now more amazing than before (see Features below).


The Shadowscale power of Oblivion is back! This lesser power lets you move silently and become nearly invisible for 2 minutes, while sneaking. It has a cool down, so it can only be used once every 10 minutes. It's like wearing an enchanted necklace of eminent sneaking! and makes Argonian players and NPCs formidable thieves, assassins and battle mages. In addition, when swimming, the power makes one invisible. Argonian NPCs automatically use the power anytime they sneak.

The shock cloak of the original release is now replaced by a potent poison cloak. The poison cloak takes effect if you activate Shadowscale and stop sneaking. Any enemy combatants who get too close are enveloped in a black mist as they receive 6 poison damage every second. NPCs use the power anytime their health gets below 50%.

Healing rate for Histskin is increased from 10x faster to 20x faster, for 2 minutes. The lesser power also has a cool down, and can be used for 120 seconds once every 10 minutes, or once every minute while swimming. NPCs automatically use the power if their health gets below 25%.

Lets you see in the dark when under water. It can be used once every 60 seconds while swimming.

Argonians have tails, so their underwater speed is now up to 3 times faster, but you can still swim normal speed, if you choose. This is an automatic ability, changing your speed any time you start swimming.

Since High Elves have +50 Magicka, it seemed right to give Argonians +50 Health. After all, their racial power regenerates health.

Restoration skills are learned 20% faster, healing spells heal 20% more and cost 20% less to cast.

Argonians have a lizard's scales, which provide more protection than human skin. So they have a 10% resistance to melee weapon damage. It's like having 10% better armor.

Argonians must encounter more than disease in Black Marsh, so they now have a 50% poison resistance, in addition to their 50% resistance to disease.

Power comes at a price, and every race in this series will have one weakness. Argonians are semi-cold-blooded, so they now have a 15% weakness to frost.

The starting skills should match their new abilites and are modified as follows. Restoration: +15. Sneak: +10. Block, Destruction, Illusion and Lockpicking: +5. The total starting skill bonus is increased from +35 to +45. Starting spells remain the same.

If your Argonian is a vampire, he or she will get the same enhancements, plus vampire powers and abilities.


The mod was extensively tested with both a new and an existing Player Character and NPC follower. In all tests, removing the mod was safe, as none of the new abilities and powers were permanent. You may subscribe to try it out and unsubscribe anytime. The abilities and powers of all Argonians in the game will return to what they were before. For a new character, the stat bonuses will remain.


This mod was tested with several popular mods, including mods that add Argonian followers and the mod Alternate Start - Live Another Life. Tests with Argonian follower mods confirmed the followers used each of the new abilities and powers. Tests with Alternate Start showed it worked well, and there is no need to change the load order. The mod was also tested with the latest versions of other Amazing Race Tweaks! mods. You don't have to unsubscribe from any of them to use this mod. To make sure this mod loads, after subscribing, launch Skyrim, wait for the launch screen to display a message that all mods finished synchronizing, then exit Skyrim to the desktop. Relaunch Skyrim. The mod should now be loaded.


There are no known bugs. Please report any you think you find. Mods that add new Argonian followers and other NPCs should be compatible, unless they change the Argonian race.


There's no need to unsubscribe. After subscribing, you may easily disable the mod at anytime:

1. Start the Skyrim launcher
   
2. Wait for it to display a message that mods finished synchronizing
   
3. Select Data Files
   
4. Remove the checkmark next to this mod
   
5. Select OK and Play
