How to Model Swap (MOD) Minecraft Story Mode (Windows)
By MISTENHEIMER
THE VIDEO TUTORIAL'S NOW AVAILABLE : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxinLWpG4B0

The Setup :

Step 1 : Download ttarchext from here: http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/ttarchext.zip

Step 2 :Extract the ttarchext winrar file, in it you'll see a bunch of files that upon double clicking, don't seem to do much.

Step 3 This next part isn't exactly mandatory, but it helps to get a better understanding of the program:

- Enter your Notepad.
- Type in the following:
ttarchext.exe
pause

- Click File, then Save As...
Name the file whatever you want, but instead of ending the file with .txt, have it end with .bat

- Save it in the ttarchext folder you extracted.

Step 4 : Open your newly created bat file. If you done the steps correctly, you should see a list of the games Telltale created. If you're planning to modify Minecraft Story Mode, ensure to remember the number "58", if you want to modify other TTG , remember the number on the list

Step 5 : This next part is necessary, compared to what's above. EXTRACTING THE FILES :
- Enter your Notepad.
Example on how to extract Minecraft Story Mode EPS 2 for model swapping:

- Type in the following, ignore the parenthesis, they're there to explain things for you:

ttarchext.exe 58 (If you're extracting MC story mode, type this number in) "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\archives\MCSM_pc_Minecraft102_data.ttarch2" (This is where you type in the directory of the file that you want to extract for model swapping. Of course, the game location might be different for you, so change it to wherever that file is. Make sure to begin and end the directory with the quote marks, and use \ this slash instead of / this one.) "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game\MCSM01" (This second one is where do you want the files to be extracted. Choose wherever you like, preferably make a folder for them, because there's gonna be a lot of files. And like with the previous one, encase it in qoute marks and use \ this slash.)

- Version without all the explanations i gave:
ttarchext.exe 58 "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\archives\MCSM_pc_Minecraft102_data.ttarch2" "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game\MCSM01"

NOTE : Remember, it's always the data file that contains the necessary components for model swapping.

- Click File, then Save As...
Name the file whatever you want, just as long as it ends with .bat

- Save it to where the ttarchext folder is

- Open your newly made bat file up.

If you've done all the necessary steps correctly. the ttarchext will proceed to extract all the files from the file you directed it to, into the folder you also directed it to. Once it's done, it'll close on itself but if you made use of the pause command, you can look over the files in the window, but it's more fun to look at them in the folder you extracted them to.

Step 6 REPLACING MODELS:

In your folder, there's a much load of files, but which ones are which?
You should note the PROP files, which are pretty much what you're gonna be using to replace objects and models.
Models, like characters or animals, start with the letters "skM*numbers*". Like for example, Jesse's model is skM1_jesse.prop Or Gabriel in EPS 2 is skM1_gabriel102.prop

NOTE :Remember one thing, if you want to replace a taller character with a smaller one, the camera won't focus on them as much, since it's meant to focus on the character's face most of the time.

Objects, like bottles, weapons, whatever else, begin with the letters "obj". You can replace those too, but i'll be specifically focusing on replacing a character with another one for this tutorial, you should get the idea after replacing a character.

TIPS : To make this feel more familiar for those who watched my TTG's Modded swap videos, for this example, we'll be replacing Rhys into Gared. Yeah, I never make MCSM modded swap vidoes before XD. Here's my Vid : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqx_iBa1wBU

- Look through the files beginning with sk, to find a file named skM1_jesse. Pay no attention to the SKL type of file, and pay attention to the PROP one.

- Copy and paste the skM1_jesse.prop file outside of the folder where all the extracted files are.

- Rename the skM1_jesse.prop file to skM1_gabriel.prop

- Copy and paste it to the "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\archives\"

We're about done now. But if you want to replace any other characters, or even objects if you get the idea by now, then go ahead, its up to you. Your choice, your decision.

Owh yeah 1 more thing :
Minecraft Story Mode doesnt support with Tales FT Borderlands, Game of Thrones, and the other TTG's Game MODELS.
Cuz, maybe Telltale using their new engine version to make MCSM game. and Tales FT Borderlands using their old engine version.

Now yeah, this may seem like a horribly long thing to do, but honestly, i just make it seem look like it. Once you do it your first time, you do it way faster the next time because you already know the steps.

For stuff like importing models from completely different Telltale games, or modifying textures or pictures, don't ask those questions for me. I only know how to swap models, object, maps, lipsync* and facial* nothing else.
* : (Execpt MCSM)

That's all, hope i helped, if you have any questions, ask me in the comment section of this guide or you can send me message. Have fun ^^

Please help. I have StampyCat as Lukas and the White Pumpkin as Ivor. They appear invisible on all the chapters they are not on. What can I do to fix this?

I think you forgot to
1. Add quotation marks around C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\archives\MCSM_pc_Minecraft102_data.ttarch2
and
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\MCSM01
2. Have (x86) after the Program Files in the second line (C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\MCSM01)
3. Have a space between Program Files and (x86)
Here is the updated code that should hopefully work :
ttarchext.exe 58 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\archives\MCSM_pc_Minecraft102_data.ttarch2" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Minecraft Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series\MCSM01"
pause

pause

The program works but in episode 6 (the episode I chose to swap models in) when I get to the part when you walk up to the book at the beginning the screen gets glitched. Is there a way to fix this problem with the model swap?

I'm having a similar issue to ϟ🌟✪LORD TACHANKA✪🌟ϟ ; I enter the directories correctly and run the program, but the MCSM01 folder remains empty
