How to Change your Colors!
First up, find the file located somewhere around here:

Non-Steam version:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1002 (obviously change drive letter to suit your pc, the folder is sometimes a different number)

Steam Version:
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64
(Or where ever you have your SteamLibrary file located, mine is on my D: drive.

Mac Version:
Library > Application Support > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Elite Dangerous > Products > FORC-FDEV-D-1010 > right-click EliteDangerous and click Show package contents > Contents > Resources >

The file is called:
"GraphicsConfiguration.xml"
Right click it and open it with notepad.

PLAYERS! THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK! ALWAYS KEEP A BACK UP OF THE ORIGINAL!!

<MatrixGreen> 0, 0, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 1, 1 </MatrixBlue>

My Current Setup:
<MatrixRed> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixRed>

<MatrixBlue> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

Adjusting your HUD Brightness
If you find that a HUD color setup you like is too bright, or the words are hard to read, you can fix this by reducing the HUD brightness.

To do this:
1. Press the 4 key to open your status panel.
2. Navigate to the "FUNCTIONS" tab
3. Scroll down to the "Interface Brightness"
4. Reduce it down to a setting where the text becomes easier to read, or the HUD brightness is easier on your eyes. (I have it set to 1 pip for my green HUD)

Enjoy!

Seconding the EDHM UI. It's one of the most important tools you can download, unless you have an utter addiction to orange.

Just use EDHM UI. It is free and clean (checked by VT, zero flags)

Wow common guys looks like everything works!!! Just if you owns Odyssey. You should go to: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64 And edit the same file there. At least it worked for me like that:Rivals:

Yup, just like the two comments below - it doesn't work for me either, and I do not own Odyssey

I suppose this has been a quiet thread for a few months but I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I've edited the relevant files, tried to the graphics override...nothing works. Perhaps this has been patched out by FDev? Or, like Klee pointed out below me, maybe the ownership of Odyssey has something to do with it. Regrettably, I do not own Odyssey.

Does the .txt file edit still work for y'all?
After a long break and Odissey coming out, i came back and wanted to put back my custom HUD colors the same wasy i used to do it many times before, but now nothing works!
Even adding a customgraphicsoverride.txt thingy that was mentioned would make it work doesn't work for me.

(and yes i am indeed doing it the right way as i've done it many times before with no problems)

I don't own Odissey, does that have anything to do with me not being able to edit the HUD anymore?:steamfacepalm:
