By a gun
****This Guide is Old****

As many of you know, with CS:GO's voice codec update a few months ago, your HLDJ .wav files begin behaving strangely and playing the music in fast forward with high-oitched sound. I will show you not only how to fix this, but how to install and use HLDJ in this guide.

How to Download and Install HLDJ
This part of the guide seems pretty basic, but I want to help people from the ground up, not starting halfway between the sky and the moon.

1.
First navigate yourself to www.hldj.org

2.
Go to the "Downloads" tab and select the latest download for the correct bit of your Operating System. (If you dont know what bit your OS is, click here

3.
Once the HLDJ .rar file is done downloading, drag it to your desktop and double click it to unzip it.

4.
Drag the folder entitled "HLDJ" onto your desktop and open it in your file browser

5.
Double click the "hldj.exe" file to run the program. Follow the prompts to install HLDJ

How to convert an Mp3 file to a Wave file with HLDJ
HLDJ only plays Wave files, and therefore has its own converter.
To use this, Open HLDJ and click this button

Select the directory that contains your mp3 files and the directory you'd like your .wav files to go to once converted. (I do not use the 'Audio' file in HLDJ as there is another step to go through along with converting.

Click the Green 'Play' button and let your audio files convert themselves.
How to Convert an Audio file with HLDJ and Audacity
1.
First go download and install 'Audacity'[audacityteam.org]

2.
Then you need to drag one of your converted audio files into audacity.
3.
Navigate to the bottom left corner where it says "Project Rate (Hz):"

4.
Click the Drop down arrow and change the Project Rate to 22050Hz

5.
Go to File>Export and save your file as a WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM

6.
Go to HLDJ>Audio and drag this .wav file into your Audio folder.
This file is now ready to play. Repeat with all of the files you would like fixed.
Running HLDJ in Game
Now the fun part. Running HLDJ and testing your music.
1.
Start up CS:GO.
2.
Tab out of CS:GO, open HLDJ and click the green play button.
3.
Tab back in to CS:GO and open console.
4.
Type "exec hldj_init" into console.
5.
Type "la" into console to list all of your song files.
6.
Choose the number corresponding to the song you want to play, and hit your bind key to play your music!

If this did not work, go back through to find where your mistake was made.

I'm sorry man, I'm not sure what the problem could be, if there is a newer guide I'd try consulting that, or try using the brand new version of HLDJ

I would try using your activation key several times to switch to your music, also make sure you have a song selected. This guide was made for a relatively older version of HLDJ and there are potentially problems or solutions that have arisen since its creation.

It only transmits my voice. How can i fix that?

You're using the wrong version, you shouldnt have to use this method with the newer versions of HLDJ. If youre using an old version, you didnt use the 22050 setting in audacity
