Counter-Strike: Terms you need to know

Ever heard some terms you don't know about? New players can come ahead and take a look. Learn all of these terms and you will be sure to succeed.

Damage
Lit/Tagged: when a player is damaged for a certain amount, this includes enemies and teammates.

Dinked: when a player is headshot and dealt a large amount of damage, but survives.

Legged: when a player is shot in the leg, usually with an AWP. Leg shots are not one hit kill with an AWP, but are brought to low HP.

To get a pick, Pick someone off: to get an easy kill on an enemy, or when an enemy gets an easy kill on your teammate or yourself.

Flick shot: quickly adjusting your crosshair onto an enemy and shooting, usually with an AWP.

An entry frag: when executing a push into an area, the first person is the "entry fragger" and gets an "entry frag".

Exit frag: a kill earned while saving in a bomb defusal situation.

Trade: a one for one kill on both teams

Player Communication
Callout: when teammates "call out" an area of interest, like where an enemy may be.

Buy/Full buy: to fully equip weapons and other items.

Force buy: when a team is forced into a buy without wanting to, because they cannot afford good weapons.

Save: to keep what you have equipped on you, when losing a round, so you don't have to spend money the next round.

An eco round/Eco/Light buy/Save: to save money one round by buying cheap weapons, or not buying anything at all.

"I need a drop": when you cannot afford a weapon, but one of your teammates has enough money to buy you something.

Drop for a teammate: when a teammate cannot afford a weapon, but you can buy one for them.

GH: good half, usually said during half time.

NT: nice try, usually said when a teammate tries to clutch but fails.

GG: good game, said when the match or game is complete.

NS: nice shot.
Movement
Boost/Boosting: (NOT to be confused with Rank Boosting): to allow a player on top of your head while you're crouched, to get a visual advantage of the immediate field, or to give a player quicker access to a map location.

Stacking a site, "Stacking": to put more players than normal on a site or a specific location to combat terrorists.

To peek (NOT "peak"): to peek an enemy player ( v. look quickly, typically in a furtive manner.)

To bait a teammate: when a teammate pushes into an area, while you're behind them in an effort to find out the positions of enemies. The bait may usually die, but a teammate should be in for the trade.

Wall bang: shooting a player through an object or surface before you see them, to get an advantage on them.

Grenade/nade stacking: players throwing grenades into an area in efforts of killing an enemy.

Rush: to push a bombsite without stopping.

Walking (not to be confused with regular running): pressing left-shift by default, allows you to move a bit slower than running, but your footsteps are completely silent.

To clutch: when a player is the last man standing on their team, versus a number of enemies, for example, 1 v 1 or 1 v 2.

Clutch or kick: when a player/the team says "clutch or kick" this means the remaining player must clutch the situation or they will be kicked. This is usually said for fun, and no players are kicked.

Prefire: shooting at a location (usually before you turn the corner or pass an object) where you expect someone to be, common locations

Rotate: when CTs move out of an area to another area that is being attacked, OR when Ts move out or cancel their push on an area because the execution is too dangerous.

Flanking: when an enemy player comes up behind to surprise their enemies, in an attempt to get a pick.

Fake, faking an execution into a site: when terrorists throw smokes and nades into a site and quickly rotate out to the other bombsite, in an effort to trick CTs into thinking it is an execution into the corresponding bombsite.

Ninja Defuse: defusing the bomb within close range of a terrorist, without their knowledge.

Crossfire: 2 players of the same team setting up positions to both work together to kill enemies coming in their path, or to trade for a kill in case who they're positioned with dies.

Strafe: quick rapid movements left to right.

Lurk: a lone player 'lurking' in other areas of the map, usually far away from other teammates, in an effort to gain information on the enemy or score a pick.

Shoulder Peek: intentionally exposing yourself paritally, quickly, without damage to an enemy to gain information or make them miss their shot.

Pop Flash: quickly throwing a flash without the enemies being able to react as fast, so you can go in for a kill or get information, or make sure it's safe to cross an area.

Spraying: to empty out your clip through a surface or area, OR not tapping at an enemy, but spraying your bullets at them in an effort to hit them, sometimes while attempting to control recoil.

Aimpunch: Where your accuracy is lowered when you get hit by bullets. Armour reduces this effect.

Weapons
Auto: an auto is usually an auto sniper, a SCAR-20 or G3SG1, sometimes also an "auto shotty", the XM1014.

Dualies: refered to the Dual Barretas.

Deagle/Deag: a quick way to say Desert Eagle.

Nerfed, weapon nerf: when the developers weaken or reduce a weapon's stats when thought to be to powerful. Usually done for weapon balance purposes.

Weapon/Item Buff: when Valve "buffs" a weapons power from being too weak.

OP, Overpowered: when a weapon is sometimes considered too powerful (controversial).

Scout: the SSG08, (Do not confuse the scout with the SG553).

Molly: molotov.

Nade: short for grenade.

pro90: the P90, because it is relatively easy to use and great in close quarters encounters.

Swag-7: the Mag-7.

Rek-9: the Tec-9.

Burst fire: 3-round burst fire available on the Glock-18 and FAMAS.

"CoD Scope": effectively a weapon that has a scope, commonly refered to the AUG and SG553

R8 Revolver: essentially a revolver capable of accurate long rage fire
Other Terms and Resources
Carry: when a player on a team is playing considerably better than their teammates, a good sign of this is the number of frags. Typically because of them, their team is winning or not failing as badly.

Smurf/Smurfing when high skill players create new low skill accounts on purpose to play against lower skill players.

Rank Boosting/Boosting: when high skill players boost lower skill players.

Hostee/Hosty?/Hosti??: a hostage

Choke: when a player misses an easy kill on an enemy.

Server Tick/Tickrate: how many times the server updates per second. In other words, the rate at which the server can "see" things change.

64 tick (the hated one): 64 updates per second

128 tick (the prefered one): 128 updates per seconds

Hit Reg/Hit Registration: when a bullet is "captured" by the server's tick, and registered server-side as a hit. Google it for an indepth explanation and videos.

Overranked: when a player is ranked too high for their skill.

Underranked: when a player's skill is too good for their rank.

Uninstall: when an other (usually already dead) player sees you do something which they think they can/shouldve do/done better.

Walling, wh (ghosting is now also used for this i think): player cheating by seeing through walls

noob, n44b, newb, n00b, etc.: used for when a player is believed to be bad/new.

Kurwa/kurva (not sure on the spelling, but who cares anyway): a common russian (I think) term.>_<
