Introduction
Lots of people are making guide like this, but I'll try to make it detailed as I can.

Hello, I made this guide for newbie members on steam, I have experienced lots of thing in steam. I'll try to tell you as best I can.
First Step
Known as Steam Community

Steam Community is filled with a lots of unique people, not at all.
There's some Rich People or Poor People, High Steam Level or Low Steam Level, etc.

The things you must know :

1. Phisher

We all know what phisher mean

Opprinnelig skrevet av Wikipedia:
Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money)

Phishing in Steam is to attempting your account access.
Of course, They to do something like this:

- Stealing all your items; Mostly
- Change your password;
- Change your profile info;
- Most horrible is that phisher stealing your account.

There are two types of Phisher, Human and Bot.

➥ Human
After you accept them, in 1-5 mins you will receive a message directly and human phisher can reply your message.

Opprinnelig skrevet av Human Phisher:
Hi, you won an unusual in tf2outpost, add this guy [Virus Link] and you'll receive the price

Link? These link has a misspelled words - steamcommunity Instead of steamxommuninity or steamcommnity. Please, Do not click that link.

It will redirect you to impersonator site. If you enter your ID and Pass to that site, it will be sended to that bot immediately. Your account will be safe, If your Steam Guard is activated.

➥ Bot

After you accept them, Instantly receive message like picture below: Impersonator

Bot never reply your message, If you're replying them.
Note: Keep that in your mind.

2. Scammer

Opprinnelig skrevet av Wikipedia:
A scam or confidence trick is an attempt to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence.

They don't sending you a link, otherwise they try hard to stealing your items manually like a tricks.

Example :

Opprinnelig skrevet av scammer:
Heya, i want your unusual hat, but i need to get the key, how about you give me first and i give the payment later

That ways actually too old. :P

Opprinnelig skrevet av scammer:
Hi, i want to trade my games with your tf2 items. but first, i want you to be middleman of my trading business, add him (true community link)

I have experienced like that before. If you do that, you will get very involved status, and you will tagged as scammer. So be very carefull, I lost $56 game copy just because of them.

3. Impersonator

Opprinnelig skrevet av Wikipedia:
An impersonator is someone who imitates or copies the behavior or actions of another

Be carefully with them, they sometimes Impersonate rich people or worst. Even your best friends.

One thing must be never forget is Comparison. Always remember your best friends profile or nicknamed them.
Second Step
Now we're focus about Team Fortress 2

TF2 Trading is a feature to exchange itemitem, but sometimes scam happens too.

1. Sharker

Sharker is like a scam or more likely "a liar", but It's for noob trader.
Sharking is a attempt to lie about the items price.

Opprinnelig skrevet av Sharker:
Hey dude, i saw you unboxed unusual, and i see that unusual just worth 2 keys

What If you're a noob trader luckily unboxed 10 unusual earbuds in trading server. Of course, you give him a huge profit and after your realize the actual price and your feeling so sad.

Always check the items price on http://backpack.tf

2. Phisher

Same as 1st step, but they're using image hosting site that contains .scr file or known as script virus.

So, I would say this to you "Never trust a link from random people, expect its official website."

if you do this, the script on .scr file will running and trying to steal your profile information, such as ID and Pass.
Last Step
It's about friend request

Do not easily accept friend request

The Profile like this one:

actually is a scammer, so beware of scammers

The Scammer Characteristics :

- Steam Level 0-1 (5-9 regardless as Steam Account Age)
- Rarely Public Profile (always private)
- No Alliases

They added you? Ignored them, Re-add again?
Two choices: Ignore or Block them? It's up to you.

Only trust the friend invite like this:

- Steam Level above 10 or higher
- Have Game Activity
- Lots of Friend In-Common (Lots of Friend, but not in-common like he have 300 friends on the list and no mutual it still okay)
- Group In-Common
The End
Thanks for reading, guy! I hope this guide helpful to you.

Based on my experience on steam

Note:

- Trust Link from Closest/Good Friends;
- Never accept request from unusual profile (they might begging you like a jerk).
