Update 27/3/2015 v1j - Weasels predominantly have white tummies! so I've made some minor changes to the artwork.


Some of the high powered guns suit fierce and mythical creatures, so when it came to thinking about an animal for the Glock I went left-field. Unless you are a pro that can constantly land headshots the Glock is little more than a pop gun that I often ditch at the earliest possible opportunity. With its low damage and high accuracy it’s geared up for scurrying about left right while cracking shots off - making the user look a little bit like an agitated weasel. So that’s what I went with!

I was meant to carry on with stickers this week, but I’ve not been able to use a mouse due to tendonitis in my wrist/thumb, so I’ve adapted to the situation and attempted a brushwork style of illustration using a stylus. Oddly enough I don’t have access to weasels so I studied weasel skeleton reference online to understand the anatomical structure, and also found a tutorial about drawing weasels, which at this level of detail boils down to drawing three circles for the head, rib cage and pelvis, then fleshing this out with volumetric shapes for the tiny limbs. In relation to the weapon I drew it in the position of being held by the user which I found rather quaint. I took some photos of flowers for the backdrop embellishments and went with a pen and ink style of illustration which in hindsight looks a tad rustic, but that ties in with the animals habitat so visually it checks out.

Due to the oddball nature of this skin and the muted colour scheme I’m not holding out for much support but I thought I’d submit it to see how people react! Let me know if this floats your boat.
