The Ghost is a lightweight and cheap design, meant to deliver anti-fighter firepower in a very fast and manueverable package, while minimizing maintenance cost through the usage of a battery rather than reactors.

The Ghost is the first of a new wave of drone technology, which was primarily developed to give future cruiser and battleship classes a kind of fire support that was previously lacking against enemy small craft due to their lack of maneuverability. However, given the limited range and capacity of drones, Carriers and their fleets will still primarily make use of manned fighters.
