Descriere
Port of CTF-Lavagiant from Unreal Tournament 1999 to Source. This map requires Upset's UT99 SWEP addon for the weapons and pickups to work. The CTF game mode is not yet available as it remains unimplemented in Upset's UT99 addon.

Due to limitations of the VMF/BSP format in Source, parts of the map had to be changed due to brush corruption. I've tried to eliminate as many of the problematic brushes as possible, but I couldn't completely fix the problem. These errors will manifest as see-through cracks between brushes or specific areas on the ground where the player may become stuck on seemingly nothing. The only thing I can do is to say avoid these areas if you find them, as fixing stuck spots in one area almost always causes them to appear elsewhere.

There are two ways of porting UT99 maps. The first is to make careful measurements in UnrealEd and replicate them in Hammer. The second much faster and less miserable method is to dump the UT99 map skeleton to a model and import it into Hammer. You can then trace it with brushes and make the map that way. I used the first method to port dm-deck16][, it took a LONG time.

I don't have the tool that TheMostUpset used when he dumped the map skeletons to a model, so I can't port any additional maps.

As for the textures and sounds, you have to use UnrealEd to export them to a usable format and use some sort of texture converter to make it into Valve's texture format (VTF), It's somewhat easy to port the textures, it's not so easy to make the textures have the proper material properties and other details. Takes a lot of time.

How do you port maps like this in source engine? If I may ask

As I've said in my other map comment sections, if you can dump the world geometry from the UT99 map to a 1:1 scale model that I can work with, I can port it to the Source engine.

The person that was doing it for three of the other maps stopped, so I'm unable to do more. I have a bugged model of ctf-high, so that may be a possibility in the future. I wanted to do the special edition of facing worlds, but that one is bugged as well.

I hope you come back. And attempt to port some popular maps. Cause your work brought us the childhood memories. You're a good map maker/porter/watever

The map has AI nodes and an engine generated navmesh. It hasn't been hand optimized so NPCs may have issues with certain parts of the map.

does it have Nav mesh?
