Below is a list of items that you have to have to summon the Wall of Flesh along with a list of recommended items before going into hardmode.

To go into Hardmode you'll want to have pretty good gear. Although you could kill the WoF with gold armor and a silver bow, you would not be very prepared for what would come later. It'd be best if you had a decent house with all the pre-hardmode NPCs along with a ton of money and a decent amount of ore stacked up. Max health and mana is also highly recommended. To make an arena, simply make a long bridge of dirt in the underworld and if it has to increase in height make sure that it's only one block steps so you can rup up or down it quickly. Try to make it over 1000 blocks wide because the longer it is the longer you have to fight him.

A simple arena that is made out of dirt blocks shown below. Note that it can also give you a lot of blinkroot as it grows naturally on dirt.

The simplest way to make the arena is to get a couple stacks of dirt blocks, and just make a long bridge of it, similar to how you might make a sky bridge. At one end make sure that there's lava below it and that it's a straight drop off. At the other make a small wooden cabin with a bed and maybe a few chests that you can respawn in.

I personally use either strictly ranged and melee but you can do a mix of all 3, or well, whatever you want. Melee however would be pretty hard to do by itself because if you fall behind the WoF you're dead meat. Quite literally.

So go ahead, pick a class, or come up with your own.

One of my first times killing WoF used this gear setup. No need for ammo and epic flame particles.

As suggested, only using the Water Bolt. Works quite well and fairly easy-to-get gear.

• Some people like using the minishark, I don't like using it due to it's low base damage although it is a personal choice. With the right ammo, potions, accessories, and armor, it can beef the damage rate up quite a bit and can still work quite well.
  
• One other choice is using the Star Cannon due to it's multiple piercing projectiles, but you'd need a few hundred stars to 100% kill the WoF.
  
• And finally you could use the Demon Scythe and go for just a magic, ranged attack using Jungle Armor, Mana Flower, Magic Power Potion, and about 50 Mana Potions.

So those are a suggested gear setup, but you could modify it how you would want. Again as stated above it is highly recommended NOT to melee tank this boss because if he gets ahead of you, you automatically die. Also DO NOT TELEPORT using a recall potion or magic mirror, doing either of those will kill you instantly.

If you chose the melee and ranged class, below is the suggested attack cycle.

First drink an ironskin potion right before you summon him and drink any other potions that you want such as an archery potion if you wish to have increased ranged damage. Then summon a minion if you have the ability.

Summon the Wall of Flesh by throwing a Voodoo Doll into the lava (selecting it in the hotbar and then pressing the T key). Then proceed to run on your arena to the left or right depending on the direction you summoned him from. Use the Nights Edge to destroy The Hungry or use the molten fury. Drink a healing potion when necessary using the hotkey, H (I personally configured it to be Q since it's closer). When The Hungry are killed, shoot one of the eyes or the mouth of the WoF to do damage. He goes pretty fast so shoot as much and as soon as you can. For a last resort you can use grenades. If all goes well you should succeed in killing him. If not, try lengthening your arena.

This is the guide for the Strictly Ranged class giving the suggested attack cycle.

Drink an ironskin potion and equip the appropriate armor and accessories if you haven't already. Summon a minion of some type if you have one and drink a magic power or archery potion for added damage. Throw the Voodoo Doll down the hatch into the lava and get ready to kick some flesh.

Keep a good distance from the WoF, continualy shooting water bolts. When you've fired off quite a few, there should be some bouncing around and doing a lot of damage to The Hungry as well as the actual WoF. By having the Mana Flower equipped you will automatically drink mana potions as needed. Then use the molten fury and/or the water bolt again to finish of The Hungry. Make sure to drink healing potions as needed. When The Hungry are all killed, use the Phoenix Blaster to finish him off.

If you chose the Meteorite Mauler class, below is the suggested attack cycle guide using that gear.

Drink a Magic Power and Ironskin Potion and summon a minion if you have one. Summon the WoF using the Guide Voodoo Doll by throwing it into the lava. Quickly switch to your space gun and continously shoot at The Hungry and the main body. You'll never consume mana and will do a fair amount of damage.

When he is killed, pick up the drops and freak out in the new world (summon him again if you want to get the other rare drops he has to offer). If you didn't kill him, try again and maybe extend your bridge if you had run out of room.

Start out by buffing and summoning a minion if you have one. Drink a gravitation potion and obsidian skin potion if you didn't make an arena or feel that you want the extra mobility or if you're scared of running out of room.

Summon the WoF by throwing the Guide Voodoo Doll into the lava. Then, shoot like there's no tomorrow. You will automatically consume mana potions when needed with the Mana Flower equiped. Stay far enough ahead of him and just keep shooting. Make sure to drink potions if the buff ends. The Water Bolt will bounce around a ton and continue to do damage even quite a while after being shot.

When the WoF is killed, pick up the loot. Or, if he wasn't killed, try try again!

After defeating the Wall of Flesh it will say: "The ancient spirits of light and dark have been released!"

That basically means that The Hallow and the Corruption (or crimson if your world has crimson) has been generated above and below ground in a big V or X shape. New monsters. More ways to die.

Start out by breaking Demon Altars by using the Pwnhammer (which you should have picked up after defeating the WoF) Every altar you break will generate a random amount of hardmode ore throughout your world, with the rarer types found deeper. You will need a Molten Pickaxe or a Reaver Shark to mine the first type, which will either be Cobalt or Palladium, which is randomly chosen like Crimson or Corruption is chosen on world gen.

A preview of the new hardmode biome, the Hallow. Brighter with awesome colored trees and pink water. Regular stone is converted to pearlstone, regular sand becomes pearlsand, and all types of trees become pearlwood when cut, even palm trees. Cactus in Hallowed Deserts still drop cactus however. Don't let the beauty consume you though as there is some pretty deadly monsters that spawn there.
