I recommend using PaintDotNET[www.getpaint.net] because of its simplicity and ability to make transparent backgrounds, you can't do this with normal MS Paint.

Pattern
You will need a 128x128 Transparent Pattern. If you don't know how to make one, download it here![www.dropbox.com]
How-To
1. Make a Head:
Create a head on the pattern!

Be mindful about the tilt the game does to the head file!

2. Double Check
  • Make sure it's Transparent
  • Make sure it's 128x128
  • Make sure it's in .png file format (Paint.NET likes saving in .pdn)
  • Make sure its name contains only letters or numbers

3. Installation
Navigate to your UserFaces files:
Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\BattleBlock Theater\GameData\UserFaces
or
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\BattleBlock Theater\GameData\UserFaces
MacOS
Library > Application Support > BattleBlockTheater
Linux
~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Battleblock Theater/gamedata/UserFaces

4. Use your Head!
You can now choose your head on Character Select!
When chosing the type of head make sure you choose this:
How do Custom Heads work? [Remote User Heads]
Custom Heads work thanks to Remote User Heads feature which can be enabled in Options (turned off by default). You don't need to enable this to view your head but you will need to enable it to view other people's Custom Head.

If the feature isn't enabled you will see other people's custom head like this:

No Head
You can play without a head too!
All you have to do is to save the empty pattern.






NOTE: Some in-game heads have hardcoded coloring regions; for example the Hatzilla's headwear won't change color depending on which team you are.

This however, is not possible with custom heads, so if you want to use a custom Hatty head, the color of Hatty's tears will change color depending on what team you are on. Because of this, if your head is not explicitly black and white only, its probably for the best to stay on the WHITE team as it won't discolor the non white and black regions!

you can also just make custom heads in paint 3d

So it works! Nice. Hey, do you think that you can make costums in the future? just running around i no suit doesn't seem very cool, plus: you sa in the trailer or in the movies dat hatty was wearing a suit, both when the cats gave him a hat, he was just a block head (i don't mean it to be rude, i mean littarly.) so yeah, do you think that maybe you can wear a suit in the future?
