Huntsman Hell is a Team fortress 2 mod-gamemode. It’s usually played on specially designed custom maps or arena maps but can be played on any map. Huntsman Hell originated as sort of a mixture of existing mods. As a specific example the super jump was take from the code for the mod-gamemode known as Versus Saxton Hale.

Huntsman Hell originally release April 2013. Today roughly 5 servers run this mod.

So what is Huntsman Hell in Team Fortress 2?


Huntsman Hell is a modification to gameplay where all players are forced to play as the sniper and wield the weapon called the huntsman. (Hence the name of the mod.) All players are forced to use the huntsman as their primary and jarate as their secondary. They can use whatever weapon they desire for their melee.

There are specific changes to the weapons and gameplay mechanics from standard Team Fortress 2. Firstly the huntsman fires arrows that explode on impact with surfaces and sets fire to enemies. Every player is given a base health of 400. By jumping while in the air players can perform a double jump. By crouching or holding down secondary fire, looking up and letting go players will perform a super jump. Lastly players don’t take fall damage.

Note that the mod is very customizable so it’s possible to find servers that, for example disable the double jump or weather or not splash damage versus only direct hits catch enemies on fire.


And that’s basically Huntsman Hell in a nutshell. An odd gameplay twist that gives players high mobility damage and health, all encompassing a single interesting gameplay style.
