Wake Achievements Guide
Bởi That Wun Wabbit và 1 cộng tác viên
A detailed explanation on how to earn some achievements in this game.
Don't know what Slam Duncan's time is, but you basically need to just get out fast because the water rises faster with difficulty.
<NOTE: Starting up with the Wake Classic (2009) version doesn't unlock achievements>

Intro
Achievements in this guide are lumped into categories such as pick-up items, difficuity or score- based achievements, and others that require a very detailed explanation.
Most achievements require getting through the ship alive. So be sure to do things in one sitting, because you can't really save or pause the game.
  • If you pick up the radio near the bottom left of the ship, your game will randomly pause. However, it can be annoying as there is no OFF button!!
Here is an example of things that are tallied as you leave the sinking ship:
Your route is tracked also:
TL;DR
  • Menu options (i.e. what you start your ship with) become available after beating the game on Hard
  • Stick with the regular version to unlock achievements!
  • Lava Mode does not unlock anything unique. Try to get out alive!
!!! Hard Mode and Lava Mode do not give you map access !!!
  • Play on Easy for most achievements. By then, you should understand how the game works and you can move on to time and difficulty-based achievements.
  • Some achievements are actually easier to achieve together such as Wide Awake and Uncurious, Empty-Handed. Otherwise, do them separately!
  • Be sure to pick up the axe (see "Here's Jonny" below on how to get the axe). You may not find it on your first try, so keep at it.
Here's Jonny!
  • If you come across an Axe during your journey, run by it to pick it up. To use at any time, just press your "Use" button.

  • You need the axe to get the Forisicide achievement.

  • The easiest way to obtain an axe is the following: from the starting area go left. Climb up to the metal door, and continue to the left. You will arrive in a room with a wooden door. Climb up, and go right. You’ll be in a room with a few turrets on the wall and two fires below. And voilá your first axe is right there waiting for you between the two fires (It’s safe to jump down there).
Forisicide
Deal 100 damage to doors.
You need to smash several brown doors. Not too many. You must find and use the axe.
Just press your "Use" button at a wooden door. You may not always be prompted to use your axe, but you can still use it.
Art Critic
You must find the giant statue of a woman 2-3 floors above the bottom of the ship. You will receive a notification upon passing the statue. You must escape the ship safely to unlock the achievement though.

The statue:

It's location:
Pineapple
  • For this achievement you must locate the secret shop hidden in the ship.

  • Bring keys! Both sides are blocked by doors so you’ll need them.

  • The shop is at the upper right of the ship. It’s in the middle of a long and narrow purple room, right below a big yellow one.

The shop:

The shop's location:
Sub-Lieutenant
Exit the ship on Easy mode. Simple.
Sample Score from Easy mode run.
Way Out
Find all 3 exits.
Two are in the Smokestacks. The other is on deck. You must go through each at least once. You can view their exact locations using the map function.

Note: The middle one is inaccessible if the ship is full of water!
This is the hardest one to get through period. Make sure you find that barrel before too long!

You may need to wait for the water a bit though to splash up and get a grip on the vertical passage leading up!
No Swimming
So first off I would like to reinforce THIS IS POSSIBLE!
And secondly, IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE!
Avoid other achievements, while you're doing this one, especially Carrots (because turning off the power doesn't put out fires on the ship)
Note: DON'T use the swimming pool, for that DOES count as swimming. Try turning Realism on, that way if you would normally get knocked out from fire or turrets (which result in the water rising to your level) you will just simply die, so you can start over fast, no need to escape or drown to start again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So let's go over a few things to help you out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AIM FOR THE MIDDLE OR LEFTMOST EXIT
Well, to get out of the sinking ship....you have to. But let's ignore that fact and focus on what WE can actually do to influence the outcome of the dry journey.
  • First off all set your gameplay mode to EASY. Turn on Realism from the options menu.
  • Get an axe! There are 3 in rooms near where you start out on the ship.
  • As soon as possible, open the map. Find a route to try to get to the top. You may find it takes a few playthroughs to find a viable one.
  • Take advantage of umbrellas and moveable crates. Unless you REALLY want to do Carrots! at the same time.
  • As you cannot swim, you will encounter many fires that you will have to go through. Pick up adrenaline and keys, you will need them all to find a fire-free path.
  • You will need to run and walljump often.
  • Make use of barrels, which float on TOP of water. (if you choose to disable Realism)
  • Open or smash every door you find
  • Head for whatever exit doesn't leave you in flames!

Using the tips, you can increase your chance of getting that achievement.
You can't swim if you're not in water.
Wide Awake
You need to not drown or pass out out before the exit. In water, make sure to go up for air periodically. You can swim up to the ceiling if necessary. Be sure to use the air vents to save time!

Note: Probably the easiest way to do this is to start with a ship already full of water. You only need to look out for air bubbles and electric thingies then.
Slam Duncan
Don't know the exact time, but once you go through the game collecting other achievements, you'll be fine. Readers have suggested the goal time is a max playthrough of 12-25 minutes.
  • The ship room layout is always the same, save for a few crates. Peanuts, now that you've probably beaten the game a few times, probably having burned or drowned a few more.

You unlock Hard after Medium after Easy...

Again, don't use Wake Classic (2009) for this. Also, Lava Mode doesn't earn you any achievements (only leaderboard scores)
Empty-Handed
Here is a sample route I took for this achievement. It should be really easy to avoid the keys on the ground as long as the lights are on. Remember, you can start with a ship full of water!

  • Alternatively - without the flooded ship enabled - you can catch yourself on fire and let the water take you up the vertical shafts to avoid spending the keys you start with. Be sure to leave Ship Power enabled and disable Realism from the options menu!
Uncurious
To avoid collecting meteorites - which are honestly ALWAYS in your way jumping onto a ledge - you should:
  • Go to the options menu and select "Start with a ship full of water"
  • You will need to go through vents to avoid drowning and blocked paths (blocked with barrels)
That way you can swim up above those meteorites in your way
Sample path:
Carrots!
While this is difficult no matter how you look at it, you CAN swim "up" through shafts rather than risk bumping into a flare on the ground when you weren't aiming for it.
Carrots! uses a different (suggested) path than Uncurious.

If you disable ship power AND flood the ship from the beginning, you will not bump into any electricity traps!
  • Picking up flares voids this achievement run!!!
  • Your only problem is if you don't see any air bubbles. Just aim for the ceiling in most cases.
  • As long as you have the whole map layout AND head for the ceiling upon entering a new room, you should be fine
Kleptomaniac / Magic Pockets
Getting 100 of meteorites and 100 keys shouldn't take you too far out of your way from the other achievements. There's at least a dozen keys and meteorites on each ship. You'll pick them up just safely escaping whether you cared before or not. Especially if you start without a flooded ship. And on that note, if you STILL don't have enough space debris and keys
  • Do NOT start with a flooded ship. It will be extremely hard for you to collect stuff
  • Try and collect stuff when you have Realism enabled (options menu)
  • Just keep playing through and legitimately winning or losing to unlock the achievement.
  • Forcing the game to exit will prolong the achievement from registering.

Just beat Duncan's time by finishing under 12 minutes. So at least we know for sure it's around 12-25 minutes.

Anyway, great guide, thanks. Btw "acheivement" can be found many times on it. And I'd suggest stating what each achievement is about, as in just copypaste their descriptions on the start of each of their sections. It'd really help.

@von Raven
okay. That sounds like a fair number

I am just taking a wild guess here but I just got the Slam Duncan achievement and think my run might have been around 25 minutes. Really not sure though.

@Move the Sky
Ah, I forgot about that. I must've started achievement hunting after doing that.
I'll clarify about the menu settings.

The thing about Carrots though is that you can completely avoid the ground (and the flares and flashlights on the ground) when you have a ship full of water. But that's fine, there's no reason to wait until beating the game on Hard to complete Carrots.

You don't unlock the extra settings until you beat the game on hard.

Carrots doesn't require lights off, you just need to not pick up flares/flashlights along the way. It's simple enough to skip them along with the other items to get the keyless/meteorless achievements as well.

let me do some troubleshooting. Your game should show what settings you can change when you start up. What difficulty are you selecting?
dnt_91 23 Thg08, 2014 @ 6:28am
Hi Vhamster , when I choose the difficulty, the game starts automatically. = (
Anyway could you tell me how to do this achievement called Sizzler? Thank you =)

hi Dnt_91
When you start up the game, choose the difficulty. Then, on the flooded ship option if you choose ON, you start with a ship full of water :D

hello, I have problems with the menu, I do not have the option of water. can you tell me exactly where it is?
