1. Introduction
Welcome to the third guide in my series on how to play Counter-Strike!

This guide is about how to switch your weapons to the left-handed side and the benefits you can gain from this simple change.

Who Am I?
Hey everyone, I'm Behr. I'm a former competitive CS player who has been playing since Counter-Strike: Source in '06. I moved to CS:GO during its beta and stuck with the game for over a decade, reaching high ranks in both FaceIT and Matchmaking.

While I've stepped back from competitive play in recent years to focus on content, I'm keeping my guides updated so they can continue to help players like you.

Let's begin.
Enabling the Console
If you haven't enabled your developer console yet, you'll need to do so before we start.

1. Go to Settings > Game.

2. Find the Enable Developer Console option and set it to Yes.

3. Press the backtick key (~ ) on your keyboard to open the console. This key is usually located just below the Esc key.
2. Switching Your Weapon Hand
Now that you have the console open, you can switch your weapon's position with a single command.

Command:
cl_righthand 0

Important Note:

When you first switch, it might feel strange. That's completely normal. Stick with it for a few games and try to be consistent. Your brain and muscle memory will gradually adjust.
3. Exploring Advanced Options
If you want to quickly switch your view model in-game or set up a custom preference, you can use binds. This is perfect if you want to have your knife on the right side but everything else on the left.

Example Bind:

bind "3" "slot3; cl_righthand 1"

You can apply this to any weapon slot to customize your experience.

Extra:

How to get only knife on right hand and keep the rest on left:

bind "1" "slot1;switchhandsleft"
bind "2" "slot2;switchhandsleft"
bind "3" "slot3; switchhandsright"
bind "4" "slot4; switchhandsleft "
4. The Benefits of Using a Left-Handed Viewmodel
While many players say this is purely personal preference, there can be a real benefit to switching your weapon hand, especially when combined with the right crosshair settings.

This is all about your dominant eye. The basic principle is that you want your gun model on the opposite side of your dominant eye. This gives your dominant eye the most unobstructed view of the screen, allowing you to focus on your crosshair and the action.

[2]Here's the breakdown:[/h2]

If you are left-eye dominant, you want your gun model on the right side (cl_righthand 1).

If you are right-eye dominant, you want your gun model on the left side (cl_righthand 0).

How to find your dominant eye:

You can easily figure this out with a quick test.
Check out these guides online to find out which eye is dominant for you:

How to Determine Your Dominant Eye[www.wikihow.com]

Ultimately, personal preference is still king. If you've been comfortable for years with your current settings, there's no need to change. But if you're looking for every possible edge, this is an easy way to get one.
4. Thank You
Finding the right viewmodel for your dominant eye can make a subtle but important difference in your game. Remember, consistency is key—give it a few games to feel natural, and you might just find a new setup that gives you a clearer view of the action.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps you get that competitive edge.

Cheers,

— Behr

are you referring to view model settings?

I run
viewmodel_fov 68 (This is your field of view max is 68)

viewmodel_offset_x 2.5 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_offset_y 0 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_offset_z -1.5 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_presetpos 3 (This is the preset position command)
but the update only says how to change hands im refering to center the gun back to its normal distance xd
