Who wants to open PHOTOSHOP for crying out loud? Just install this, and press F8 and you will be greeted with a easy to use map-icon making menu. Simply move the frame to where you want to capture, set the size, and save it! (If you're having trouble using F8, you can type 'unbind F8' in console to remove whatever it's bound to, or alternatively, bind any key to 'mi_make_mapicon' for the same functionality)

All mapicons created save to "garrysmod\data\mapicons\thumb", and always have the same name as the map you're playing on. Saved map-icons will always override old map icons in the same folder.

There are a bunch of helpful cvars too if you want to make a bunch fairly quickly.

• mi_print_maplist - prints a list of all mounted maps
  
• mi_print_maps_with_icons - prints names of all maps that have map icons
  
• mi_print_maps_without_icons - prints names of all maps that don't have map icons
  
• mi_print_maps_without_icons_including [filter] - prints all maps that do not have icons matching the filter
  
• mi_print_maps_without_icons_excluding [filter] - prints all maps that do not have icons not matching the filter
  
• mi_print_map_icons - prints all map icons that exist and are mounted
  
• mi_print_next_map_without_icon [filter optional] - prints the next map that doesn't have an icon
  
• mi_load_next_map_without_icon [filter optional] - loads the next map that doesn't have an icon
  
• mi_copy_all_existing_mapicons - copies every single mounted map icon to data\mapicons\thumb_copy
  
• mi_make_mapicon - captures the map icon and opens the menu, as though the standard bind F8 was pressed.

[filter] means a filter can be specified. i.e doing print_maps_without_icons_excluding ttt will print all maps that do not have TTT in their names

Map icons will only show when they are in maps\thumb. You can make the folder yourself if it doesn't exist already and move the files manually.

If that's annoying and you want the map icons to be moved automatically to the right folder to actually display them once they're made, I recommend making data\mapicons\thumb a symbolic link pointing to maps\thumb.
