・Yellow Line = Edge, Your view in 1920*1080
・Green Line = Your view in 1920*1200
・Red Line = Your view in 1600*1200
・White Line = Your view in 1280*1024 ( Very Small )

First, I tell you conclusion,
1920 *1080 (16:9) is BEST resolution ever.

Even If you have 26 inch native 1920*1200 wide display,
I recommend you to play the game in smaller 1920*1080 resolution setting.
Because It gives you more wide view.
It improves hit and away play-style especially with Outlander/Ember Mage.

1920 *1080 (16:9) is BEST.
next 1920*1200 (16:10) ,
next 1600*1200 (4:3) ,
next 1280*1024 (5:4).

Some ideas in Ranged skill and its range.

In 1600*1200 and less resolutions,
It is pointless to upgrade your Magma Spear to Tier 1
(improves its range from 16 to 24 meter).

Because in these small resolutions,
You can't see and target enemies from 24+ meter away.

It is enough with 16 meter regular Magma Spear.

Mathmatic

You can calcutate with pencil.
What is important is the value of ( Width / Hegiht ).

1920 / 1200 = 1.60

1920 / 1080 = 1.78

1600 / 1200 = 1.33

1280 /1024 = 1.25

In this 4 exapmles, 1.78 ( from 1920 / 1080 ) is biggest value.
So 1920*1080 resolution gives you biggest view.

Conclusion

Even If you have 26 inch native 1920*1200 display,
I recommend you to play the game in smaller 1920*1080 resolution setting.
Because It gives you widest view.
It improves hit and away play-style with Outlander/Ember Mage.

By holding SHIFT you can fire in any direction without needing a target. So, in moments where things are crazy range can still help you.

This is a very interesting guide, and something I never even considered.

Well, this stuff looks useful, but you shouldn't say that upgrading a skill is pointless, because they can't see as far as they shoot. It's not pointless to upgrade your skills, it's just less optimal.
Magma Spear's range increase is not Tier2, it's Tier1 and it's totally cool even if you play in like 800x600, because Magma Spear leaves an enormous fire damage over time.
Another thing you forgot to calculate with is that you can shoot slightly offscreen.
My basic guide has the second highest rating on Steam, I'm linking your guide in mine, so that people find yours easier. =)
