The Shadowscales are a special part of the Dark Brotherhood. In the Argonian homeland of Black Marsh, those born under the sign of the Shadow are taken at birth and presented to the King of Black Marsh. A Shadowscale hatchling is then trained in the arts of stealth and assassination by the Dark Brotherhood, and lives a life in service to the mighty kingdom of Argonia. Any Shadowscale who lives to come of age is accepted into the Dark Brotherhood as a full member of the family.

The skill bonuses for the Shadowscale class are consistent with Veezera, and combat style assassin. The lore says 'The Shadow grants those born under her sign the ability to hide in shadows' so they have a new ability, Shadow's Embrace, that grants the shadowcloak effect which cloaks the user in shadows while sneaking, and grants a Muffle effect.

(The effects are from Boethia's Embrace but does not apply damage over time, or spread darkness to others, and only activates when sneaking)

To shift to Shadowscales with an existing character you can use the showracemenu or setrace commands. The ID for the race is 'ArgonianShadowScaleRace' and in the showracemenu command it shows as 'Shadowscales' - you can use either way to become a Shadowscale at any time.

You may also add just the ability if you wish, you can use the player.addspell command to add the ability to any character. The easiest way is to type 'help embrace' (w/o the quotes). This will list the console code for the ability in your game, the ability is listed as 'Shadow's Embrace'. The first two digits of the code depend on your mod load order, or I would just list it.

Character in images is wearing Shrouded Armor, but does not start with it (at least not yet) - Also in the images are the excellent Dark Brotherhood weapons made by Deacon. I recommend them to any Dark Brotherhood fans, or stealthy characters. They are well made, and add well to the immersion:

Arrows: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=14172
Dagger: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=14196

As lazywolf09 pointed out this is by lore a class, or sub-group of the existing Argonian race, as Shadowscales are normal Argonians that happened to be born during the period of year known as the second seed, so can be of any Argonian clan. Even the ones we haven't actually seen yet . . .

*Conflict issue with DB09 'To Kill an Empire' quest corrected.

@Ioganer - The only way to edit the effect is with the creation kit, editing the effect itself directly. A bit more immersive trick that I used when playing with this mod is to move/strafe slowly to either side when aiming, as the particle effect behaves somewhat like smoke, and clears the view when it trails to the side.

can't see where i'm aiming when being a shadowscale , the shadows embrace's particle effects get in the way is there any way to reduce them so i can see where i'm aiming?
