It certainly is a great idea!
I am working (more like not working) on other projects atm.
It would be a very original mod concept, while also kind of expanding the canonical sub lore of Starbound, since the two games actually take place in the same universe, but it seems that few people know that.
I have it downloaded.
I usually use them along with Protectorate-themed item mods.
I think it would even be possible to play with them on a live stream if you use the Protectorate items instead of their own. That way you keep the idea of the Protectorate's own super soldiers, but without the Nazi part.
It's a shame there isn't something to replace their ship with the Protectorate's ship.
