Early Access Review
Marooners is a fantastic party game that takes the usual style of gameplay and adds it’s own unique twist.

Early Access
Marooners is currently in an early access state but it seems like it's nearing full release. Everything plays really well (I think I encountered two bugs in my entire time of playing) and there is a nice amount of content (I am unsure if they plan to add more). In game there is also a handy banner telling you when the next update is due so you’re constantly aware of when to check back for new things and can know the developers are actively working on it.

General Gameplay
Marooners is an objective based party game that consists of many different minigames all with their own goals. Instead of choosing each minigame one by one though you'll find a unique twist to Marooners in which the game will switch between mini games randomly whilst you’re playing, saving where everyone was in that stage and reverting back to that randomly without warning.
There are many different minigames from ones where you’ll be running from a giant boulder whilst dodging objects to games where you’ll have to dig down as far and fast as you can avoiding unbreakable blocks on your way. In every game you’ll be competing against at least one opponent and you can play with five other people at any one time. Each minigame is unique and insanely fun!
You can find powerups in game such as a magnet to draw coins towards you, bombs to throw at your opponents and a speed boost for a few seconds all adding a minor advantage to your gameplay. They are dropped randomly in play so everyone has an equal chance to grab one...if they’re quick enough.
Throughout each minigame you’ll find yourself picking up coins and at the end all the coins are tallied up, the winner is whoever has collected the most across all of the minigames so even if you win the most minigames you still might just lose if someone else played it smarter. If you win a minigame though you have a chance to grab a trophy for 25 points meaning you are more likely to win if you are the sole survivor of each one!!!
To avoid repetitiveness in gameplay around half of the minigames are included in each rotation and they are completely randomized so it doesn’t feel like you’re ever playing the same two games twice.
After each full game is completed everyone who was playing will unlock a new cosmetic weapon or character for use in future plays. As I mentioned all the items and characters you can play as are superficial only and add no stat bonus or otherwise to your gameplay. I think this keeps things fair whilst still allowing you a great amount of customization. It also makes it easier for you to switch players or weapons without feeling like you are being penalized for liking one more than another.

Sound & Graphics
The graphics are really nice with a cartoony feel yet they don’t feel childish. Everything is vibrant without being too in your face. The soundtrack is pretty much what you’d expect from a party game but with a semi-tribal theme to it. Both work well in the game and give it that perfect party theme without feeling serious.

Pros
--- Great party minigames.
--- Online and Local play.
--- Ability to play Local and Online at the same time (up to 4 local and filled with online).
--- Up to 6 players (4 local + 2 online or up to 6 online).
--- 2 players per keyboard (optional).
--- Choice of characters & weapons to choose from (superficial only).
--- Cosmetic unlocks after each game for everyone, win or lose.

Cons
--- A few more mini-games wouldn’t hurt.
--- Not many players online at once currently.
--- No multipack on sale!!!!
--- When it’s just two players it feels like the minigames switch too fast.
--- No choice on how many minigames are included in each play.

Summary
Marooners is in early access still but seems very close to it’s full release. There are multiple minigames to keep you and your pals busy and the unique twist on the usual style of party games is great. Though there are not many players right now for online play if you have friends with the game or can play locally then Marooners is a great purchase. With active devs who listen to community feedback I can see this game reaching it’s full potential and being worth every cent.
