Trove is a quick switch class-based MMORPG. There are 12+ classes. It differs from the classic Healer/Tank/DPS as it is a basic 2x2 split of ranged vs melee, with the option of ranged characters being physical(bows) or magical(magicks). Some classes are tankier, Revenant being the obvious tank(Damage based on HP), but there is no designated healer.
You receive one class when you start, and you unlock 2 more free by simply leveling up. Others can be purchased through the MTX store, or through the auction house form other players.

Gameplay is very well explained in the tutorial that forces you to learn the game. You learn pretty quickly that you will be running a lot of “Dungeons” that are more like quick, open, multi-user, boss fights. There is no party system, so everybody standing in the dungeon when the boss dies receives experience and everyone standing near the chest when it is broken open receives loot.

Combat is very base. 4 attacks tied to M1, M2, 1, and 2. M1 is your basic attack. M2 and 1 are more powerful, have varying effects, and use a varying amount of “Energy”, 2 is your ultimate with varying cooldowns based on class( ~30s to ~75s I believe). Combat itself is very fast paced, but the new balancing changes have helped. Still, normal boss fights take less than 10s with 2 DPS characters. The “Raid” of Trove is the 4 tiered Shadow Tower, raid bosses take up to 2 minutes with a poorly geared 2-man party. The max players you can have in each instance of Shadow Tower is eight players.

All in all, it’s a great game to play with your buddies. Combat is quick, there are plenty of perks for logging in for half an hour or so each day, so it’s a great game to use to take a small break from your other games. Trove is also nice if you don’t have lots of time to grind out raid dungeons/etc.

I highly recommend playing this game.

Edit 2/11/16:
Those worried about the “Heart Attack” update, it was just balancing changes and a slight imposition of the MTX store. You still get 4 classes for free, and can easily get enough Flux (in-game money) to buy the tokens from the auction house. Yes, it’s sad you can’t farm all of the classes now, but you aren't paying for this game. It is FREE. If you enjoy playing it, you can spend a few bucks to unlock all the classes. A LOT of the stuff in the MTX store is purely cosmetic, and the majority of people have purchased things from the MTX store.

No, characters were not “Super nerfed”. I have been playing MMO’s for upwards of 10 years. The characters were balanced. Trove is headed in the right direction with their character/NPC updates. I’m looking forward to the future with Trove. Classes were balanced.

Edit 2/17/16:
Dragon coin update. Hurt my feelings, but it actually isn't a terrible update. Just balanced out the soul getting, and gave us all something more to throw cubits at. I'm pleased, though, pleasantly farming for coins, for hours.

Accurate except for the player limit for shadow towers. the current limit is 8 "trovians" per tower instance.
